George W. wasn't much different. Years ago, someone asked him how he felt about the American soldiers who had lost limbs, etc. in the Iraq war.

His response? 'Boy, I'm reading a really good book right now out here on the ranch. I'm really enjoying it'.

And just recently admitted that the Iraq war was, 'unjustified and brutal'.
A little context, he immediately corrected himself, btw.

Never heard that "reading a good book" comment, can you provide a link?
Not a chance, never find one. But I remember it from a television news story years ago (I want to say 20/20). They showed all these soldiers in hospitals and rehab, missing limbs and such. When it was mentioned to Bush, he didn't appear all that interested in their plight and immediately changed the subject to this really good book that he was reading on his Texas ranch.

Isn't the intent of war to kill more of your enemy than have your own guys killed. Thus, brutal?

He has probably had a lot of restless nights looking back at that and second-guessing his decisions, but he was acting primarily on flawed information and analyses provided to him by the CIA and military advisors regarding weapons programs in Iraq.

Probably had in mind the missile attacks on civilian targets.

That was also considered war as well. Don't you remember the Taliban hiding in temples and surrounding themselves with women and children so they couldn't get caught, killed, etc...?

The entire 3rd world "plays war" differently than the "enlightened nations" play war.

It's like comparing apples and oranges....thank God we have better equipment. Well we did until ol'Joe gave away the bank in Afghanistan.
