Bull Conner

Post by D-train » Sat Jan 15, 2022 4:31 pm

I had never hear of him so I decided to look up who Biden had compared people that are in favor of voter ID to. That's right, the President of the United States accuses people who believe that ALL races should prove their identity to vote are on the same side as this guy.
Theophilus Eugene "Bull" Connor (July 11, 1897 – March 10, 1973) was an American politician who served as Commissioner of Public Safety for the city of Birmingham, Alabama, for more than two decades. A member of the Democratic Party, he strongly opposed the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. Under the city commission government, Connor had responsibility for administrative oversight of the Birmingham Fire Department and the Birmingham Police Department,[1] which also had their own chiefs.

A white supremacist,[2] Bull Connor enforced legal racial segregation and denied civil rights to black citizens, especially during 1963's Birmingham campaign, led by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. He is well known for directing the use of fire hoses and police attack dogs against civil rights activists, including against children supporting the protests.[3] National media broadcast these tactics on television, horrifying much of the world. The outrages served as catalysts for major social and legal change in the Southern United States and contributed to passage by the United States Congress of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

"Voting Rights" is a joke....a deliberate deception. Anyone who is eligible to vote can vote. And everyone knows it.

What the Dems want is federal control of state voting laws....or rather to eliminate them. If a state requires ID, restricts felons, non citizens, under aged and out-of-towners, audits or eliminates mail in votes, etc.....they don't want it....so they promote the myths that a bunch of folks can't vote. And that's all it is...a myth.

The lying and deceiving sob's also want to eliminate the filibuster so they can ram things like 'voting rights legislation' through.

The ends justify the means in the Dem-onic kingdom....

Totally agree. Good news independents will see right through it and they will be destroyed this fall just like last fall in Virginia. btw Youngkin was just sworn in which marked the beginning of the end of this age of insanity.

You make it sound like there is some "Democratic tribe" that embraces everyone with that party label, whether it's Andrew Jackson, or JFK, or Bull Conner, or AOC. C'mon. Party affiliations change. As ddraig said, most of the people opposed to desegregation were Democrats.

So what do you think happened to all those pro-segregation Democrats that were majorities in most souther states? Did they just move and become liberals that populated places like NY and California and People's Republic of Seattle?

I only think it's ironic if you think there is some permanent "R" or "D" on a person. There was a HUGE realignment after the civil rights acts in the 1960s. I bet that most of the Democrats who were like Bull Conner in the 1960 aren't Democrats any more! What do you think?
