The statement referenced (https://www.nationalreview.com/2022/05/ ... elf-doubt/), titled "America's Crisis of Self Doubt," compares the current time to the 1930s and 1970s when there was a lot of pessimism in the U.S. about the future. I agree with the authors about the strength and resilience of the American People and American institutions, and that we are (and should be) a model for all of humanity. Personally, I think we should get to work making things better rather than whining and complaining.

I do disagree with the emphasis "... came to be wealthy and powerful primarily through its own internal strengths, not via expropriation and conquest ..." I am in no way meaning to diminish the incredible human legacy of our founders, pioneers and settlers. BUT ... I can't think of another time in human history where there was such a large land mass with such incredible natural resources (not to mention beauty) on the horizon. And all it took to make that part of the United States was ... how can you say that was anything other than conquest?
