Canada banning new handgun sales and imports. The creepiest part of this is the 100% fully masked minions all obediently nodding in agreement as their leader speaks. Talk about Orwellian science fiction movie vibe.

Maybe next time they can all wear white robes and pointy hats for an extra-chilling effect.

What are AR-15s for anyway. Regular rifles or shotguns aren't good enough for hunters these days?
There are some legitimate uses for people that live in rural areas, shooting coyotes or wild pigs for instance. The pistol grip helps with trigger squeeze, making the weapon more accurate and the larger magazine size helps you get off a lot of shots in a hurry. Those same features apply equally well to killing humans, because shooting is shooting. You could use these weapons for more traditional hunting, but most AR-15 types use .223, which is on the light end for deer and probably unsuitable for larger game like elk. But, just to be clear, you can get these weapons set up for larger calibers. It's just not as common, from what I understand.

So....don't most European countries have really strict gun laws? There aren't mass shootings there, right?

It's two things....

Too easy to get a firearm in the US and culture. This country has an abnormal ratio of fucked up people. Just my .02

I don't think an outright ban on assault rifles will pass any time soon. But it seems to me that proposals around raising the age to purchase an assault rifle, requiring background checks, red flag laws are pretty reasonable. Restricting magazine size to 5 rounds is dumb though because if the mag size is that limited, it will just encourage people to buy the larger ones illegally. I think I still have 1 or 2 30-round mags in storage somewhere from back in my Marine Corps days, and I'm sure these things are incredibly common and probably not difficult to make in a crafty person's garage. If you allow 10 round mags, I think that would be okay for most people.

This Seahawks beat reporter for the Athletic is so triggered. There could be news of a Solar Eclipse and he somehow find a racism angle and tweet about it.

My prediction is they will to some combination of that, and the Dems will all pat themselves on the back and use it in their campaign's the next six months and it will have little to no effect on anything....
