Of course, it's a great money maker. The politicans run under the same presumptions that the American Diabetes Association does when it comes to diabetes for the very same reasons. For example, the ADA will tell you the importance of exercise, medication, and diet in very inaccurate concepts. We see this false and non-effective information in the form of "take your meds", "go for a walk", "eat a balanced diet". Meanwhile the American Diabetes Association's top funders are the food and pharmaceutical industries. So what you are actually hearing is take meds and eat processed carbohydrates (aka sugar). If they actually told people how to fix the problem the big dollars would stop coming in from the food industry and big pharma. Hell, diabetes is around a $800B dollar per year business and literally kills far more people than we are lead to believe once you take into consideration the effects of heart disease, cancer, liver disease, and several other diseases diabetes causes.
But in truth diabetes can be best summed up as Carbohydrate Toxcity Syndrome. The 'Cause' is carbohydrate (sugar) consumption, period. According to studys (btw- not acknowledged by ADA) by Cambridge, along with many other studies, the only way to put Type 2 into remission is to fix the cause. The cause being carbohydrate intake. But ADA, your doctor, your nutritionist, your pharmacist, and the general knowledge out there will tell you too take meds, exercise, and eat a balanced diet because whole grains are nutritious. The meds do not fix diabetes only manages high sugar levels, all of the underline risk factors about heart disease, stroke, and diabete retinopathy stays the same as long as carbohydrates are consumed as recommended by ADA and others. If you have type 2, consider going very low-carb on a keto diet, and count total carbs not net carbs, and stay away from alcohol and alcohol sugars. Exercise is nice but it is does not fix the cause, but it will make your body healthier as well as your mind.
Now as for the "homeless problem"...
There was a time when we saw homelessness as single mothers losing their jobs and homes. Or people that get sick and can't work. And in that time, we also saw 'homeless drunks' that made a choice of staying drunk and not retaining employment to stay off of the streets. Things seemed pretty clear and gave a reasonable understanding on how to handle both. The single mother or person that got sick or had a misfortune that put them out of work had meaningful services to reverse the cause of the effect. And the homeless drunk oftentimes was taken into the drunk tank and offered treatment since it was unlawful to be drunk in public.
Nowdays the "homeless problem" is mostly a drug problem that leads to crime. These drug users can not handle a stable daily job similar to the drunk. But the drug users are a bit more ambitious than the drunk is and will break into buildings, cars, homes, and steal from public and private property. And they will leave their filth of needles and trash scattered in their wake. Drug use is the cause. The crimes and trash are the unlawful effect. The solution for Seattle, King County, and WA state? House them and give them free shit.
If you have a flat tire because a nail is in it, one could fill it will air and drive a few miles, but it will go flat again. Cause: nail in tire. Effect: flat tire. Fix? Put air in the tire??? Nope, it is to patch or replace the tire.
