I mean, of course the Civil War was about slavery.

Gee, Haley is soooo out of touch. Everyone knows that the civil war was caused by global warming.

It's an absurd question. It's like Black lives matter. You are essentially presuming that people are racist moronic trash and need to be told that slavery is bad or that Black Lives matter.

Slavery never ended, it just transformed.

Most blacks in America are still slaves [to leftist ideology].

It's not ubsurd it's a legitimate topic. I don't understand what you mean about presumptions. it's interesting she goes through an explanation and leaves it out. The next day she decides to include it.

I didn't mean she had to say it was wrong. She asked the question. That was just a suggestion. Terms of the civil war, there be any number of things she could come up with. What's the deal, she's doesn't want to talk about it? Like she points out, she's from the south, it's part of her history

Looking at what she said actually. Think instead of just answering the question she tried for a vague campaign oriented answer that really didn't make sense, There was the issue of states rights VS federalism, the south was fighting big government? The rights and the freedoms of the people, she's talking about slavery there isn't she? They need to make sure you have freedom... Yeah exactly.

“I think it always comes down to the role of government and what the rights of the people are. And we will always stand by the fact that I think the government was intended to secure the rights and freedoms of the people,” Haley said. “It was never meant to be all things to all people. Government doesn't need to tell you how to live your life. They don't need to tell you what you can and can't do. They don't need to be a part of your life. They need to make sure that you have freedom.”

If anybody is interested. Haley was governor of South Carolina which was the first state to cecede. This is the
Confederate States of America - Declaration of the Immediate Causes Which Induce and Justify the Secession of South Carolina from the Federal Union. I'm going to assume she is familiar with this. It begins with an argument reflecting the united states declaration of independence. Which I think is where I think she might get her argument. But even in this document the second part is about defending slavery. It's really hard to get away from from it being central to the conflict
