To understand how we got to where we are

This explains the rise of the left...
In 1984, Bezmenov gave an interview to G. Edward Griffin from which much can be learned today. His most chilling point was that there’s a long-term plan put in play by Russia to defeat America through psychological warfare and “demoralization.” It’s a long game that takes decades to achieve but it may already be bearing fruit.
Bezmenov made the point that the work of the KGB mainly does not involve espionage, despite what our popular culture may tell us. Most of the work, 85% of it, was “a slow process which we call either ideological subversion, active measures, or psychological warfare.”
What does that mean? Bezmenov explained that the most striking thing about ideological subversion is that it happens in the open as a legitimate process. “You can see it with your own eyes,” he said. The American media would be able to see it, if it just focused on it.
Here’s how he further defined ideological subversion:
“What it basically means is: to change the perception of reality of every American to such an extent that despite of the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families, their community, and their country.”

Doesn't this perfectly describe what America has largely become?...
The first stage of the ‘great brainwashing’ that is called ‘demoralization’, which takes 15–20 years. In his words, ‘this is the minimum number of years to educate one generation of students in the country of your enemy. Expose (these students) to the ideology of the enemy; in other words, Marxism-Leninism is being pumped into the soft heads of at least three generations of American students without being challenged or counterbalanced with the basic values of Americans.’ He continues that by the 1980s these ideologically obsessed people are part of the American system and higher education in a way that it is impossible to get rid of them. Because ‘you cannot change their mind even if you expose them to authentic information (…) The facts tell nothing to him. Even if I shower him with information, with authentic proof, with documents, with pictures; even if I take him by force to the Soviet Union and show him (a) concentration camp, he will refuse to believe it.’ He believed that in the 1960s the hippies were already contaminated by the ideas planted by the KGB; therefore, from the 1980s on, their influence made its way into American politics too.

They didn't create the left, He's got his four steps of destabilization, it's the same sort of thing the united states' engages in. Sure, the Soviet union could try to influence a situation, let's say the voting rights movement in the southern united states, They could try a disinformation campaign to try and destabilize things, try to have some sort of covert influence. But they didn't create the situation or the conflict around it including the leftist activists. It's not without the Soviet union there only be trump supporters

A better event might be the free speech movement. That's considered the seed of college campus activism and the anti war movement. It can be traced to Mario Savio a college activist. So was he a Soviet agent? He was tracked by the FBI for a decade and they didn't come up with anything. Again I could see where soviets would try to influence things. I doubt they were very successful, and again, the American agencies do the same sort of thing. Try to influence events in other countries

I did years ago. It is terrible. And it is true. Dumb brain washed college kids these days. What is a woman? "I am for open Boarders", ("That is white supremacy & colonialist-white-settler-patriarchal oppression"~1+1=2). And we totally have a bunch of queer-feminist-indigenous-dance theory majors that contribute so much to society

Open boarders is also an element of libertarian thinking, did the Russkies give us that as well?

Good stuff. I'm of the opinion that this psychological warfare continues today, and that we are missing the main point if we just focus on the left. I think the main goal is to divide us and to make us hate each other.

The Russians tried to fix an election didn't they, or was that fake news, maybe the Russians planted that story. I'm getting a headache
