Ty France is currently the best defensive 1B in baseball

Was checking his defensive stats. Not enough innings at 3B. Not very good at 2B but at 1B he is the best in baseball for UZR 150.

Agree but no way a bad 1B is number 1 even after only 40-50 games.

Right. I look at it like PFF in football. If you are ranked really high, it means you probably are pretty good, if you are ranked pretty low, it probably means you aren't very good. You can't stack players against each other to say 1 is better than the other because they are ranked a few spots higher though, and if you are in the middle, it doesn't really tell me much at all.

It tells us enough that at -.300 OPS compared to a guy who isn't even a good 1B bat... he's obsolete.

i think he could really bring up that contact rate and combined with his hard-hit ball rate that could lead to some special results on the field.
