I guess its something. My gut feeling is that Dipoto is looking for the best deal to invest the Mariners money. I think he's willing to bring in a big fish, but they have to meet a certain criteria. Not sure what that is.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 5:15 pmYeah, it was in one of the mlbtr blurbs a week or two ago. They listed us as one of the teams that's interested. Not the strongest of links, but that's what was reported.Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 5:05 pmHas anybody heard us being potentially linked to Suzuki? He'd be a great addition.

I think it's better to just embrace my lack of knowledge of what's really happening out there and behind the scenes. There are too many variables. That's why I never do an offseason plan, though I do read and have opinions on the ones that others put out. But I try not to get too invested, at least until there's some actual information to work off of. In the case of the Mariners, there's been almost no actual information this offseason. No leaks. As far as I can tell, Divish and the other beat reporters are just spinning their wheels and speculating.Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 5:22 pmI guess its something. There have actually been a huge number of quotes and even a video interview direct from the horses mouth. Far more than usual imo.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 5:30 pmI think it's better to just embrace my lack of knowledge of what's really happening out there and behind the scenes. Definitely nothing from his possible targets though.

Yeah, but it's all meaningless Jerry-speak. He'll do what he does. We know he likes Semien, but maybe he likes Story more and is keeping it close to the vest. We know he doesn't want to trade his top prospects, but maybe that changes in the right deal. Maybe it changes if he starts landing some of his other pieces and sees that he's close to a really good roster, but needs to finish it off. Honestly, who knows what the guy is thinking?D-train wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 5:36 pmThere have actually been a huge number of quotes and even a video interview direct from the horses mouth. Typical Dipoto to be focused on one of the few players with enormous red flags like Story.

Sixth Year Still A Sticking Point In Talks Between Freddie Freeman, Braves
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/11/ ... raves.html
I'd give Freeman 6 years at $28 million/yr, plus a club option for a 7th year with a $2 million buyout, making it a 6 yr, $170 million contract.
