The upside value that Kelenic holds over Canó could bring you back a player better than either. Therefore Kelenic is the more valuable player. And its not even close. You don't think we could get Canó back straight up for Kelenic? We'd be the laughing stock of baseball if that happened.

but that is about future value, dipoto's favorite angle these days, what bpj is talking about i believe is stripping away the trades and making it to your goal quicker. If they would have spent the money back when they traded for Cano. I see the elements of another Cano situation. Back when traded for Cano Ackley was Kelenic.
