Re: Who's off the board tally
I don't understand why Correa is valued so highly. He's not as good as Seager.
You know SS WAR is totally inflated when you can hit for a .850 OPS and finish 1st in WAR. The guy hasn't had a stolen base in 2 years.
How can Jose Ramirez be worth so much less than Correa when he hits 10 more homers a year, gets 10 more doubles a year, steals 30 more bags, gets 20 more RBI's a year, has avg'd significantly higher OPS + over the past 5 years, has a significantly better K/BB ratio, AND Ramirez was a finalist for a GG at 3rd.

Just saying he didn't say we are in on him. He just wondered if we might be. That doesn't make it more or less likely that we are actually in on him which I doubt are but yes, Ray shocked me so LFG.Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 3:39 pmI didn't miss jack "?" or no "?". Re: Who's off the board tally
Machado signed for $300M to play third but you lose significant value moving Correa to third. Giving him $350M and having him switch positions would make the Bedard trade look like a good deal.

JD didn't say he was after an ACE but he didn't say he wasn't either. He has said France is the 1B and JP is the SS, he isn't upgrading at C and no pure DHs and he has yet to go against his word. He still could but it is less likely than getting an Ace which he never said he wouldn't do.

Re: Who's off the board tally
I think I might be the only person on this forum who's in on Story. I'm not sold on the Coors regression. I'm sure it will to a point, but not as bad as people think. Especially for a middle infielder. However, I also think we should sign Bryant as well to go along with Story. But i think that the Mariners will only grab one or the other.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 4:22 pmJD didn't say he was after an ACE but he didn't say he wasn't either. Ok let's pretend he played is whole career in St. Louis which I believe is a neutral park. So no Coors issue.Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 9:11 pmI think I might be the only person on this forum who's in on Story. I'm not sold on the Coors regression. Where would he play considering he hasn't played a single inning off SS, there are concerns about his arm, Frazier has played 3 games at third in his entire career and Frazier hit 5 HRs last season and JK is going to be in LF every day.

It's easy with Story.Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 9:11 pmI think I might be the only person on this forum who's in on Story. I'm not sold on the Coors regression. Even if he "improves" his .750 career Away OPS to .800 and then hits 50 points lower at T-Mobile like most players do, he's a .750-.775 overall OPS.
What Story would be missing is the .900 Home OPS. No way he replicates that Home success in Seattle.
Which, a .750 player is fine, if you're not paying up for it.
JP Crawford has a better career Away OPS numbers than Story.

Re: Who's off the board tally
I'd put him at 2B where his numbers would look a whole lot better and use him as the back up SS on the roster so we don't need to carry an extra infielder. I'm not expecting Story to put up Coors type numbers. If he put up at least away stats while manning the second bag, that's still a huge upgrade. Plus he can swipe 20-30 bases in the show. As far as arm issues go, playing second base should be an easy transition. Then go out and sign Kris Bryant to play 3B/OF to split time with Toro at 3B and Frazier in LF.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 9:23 pmOk let's pretend he played is whole career in St. Louis which I believe is a neutral park. I feel a Jerry Dipoto trade coming on!
