Kalen DeBoer
Re: Kalen DeBoer
'The key is hiring a staff that can retrain the kids we have as well as influencing our scheming on both sides of the ball. One can make a case that if keep the currant defensive kids here and healthy and get a dominant D Lineman via the portal we could be a very good defensive team. Offensively I'm not so sure.

Let's hope so. Obviously they're dealing with different players and a higher skill level of opposition, but if they can get out of Huard what they got out of Haener and in proportion to their talent level, we might be seeing a top-ten offense. Maybe not next year but soon thereafter.

Brock said this morning the calls, texts and tweets he was getting from people around the game where that we would love him and he would build one heck of a staff. I sure hope so. I long for the days that our staff was loaded, Tedford, Kwiatkowski and Lake were all highly regarded. Lake was a great DB coach and could sure coach up that position, and recruit that position. But Kwiatkowski was a better DC. Pete made a huge mistake kissing Jimmy’s ass to get him to stay and Jimmy made a bigger one not doing everything he could to keep Kwiatkowski. That said, I really doubt he leaves Texas to come back.
Gregory, Smith, Hamden and Donovan were all grossly under qualified to do their jobs. Recognizing talent in other coach is obviously a giant CP flaw that Jimmy shares. We lost a great DC to keep a mediocre one and besides one year of Tedford had the worst and least experienced offensive play callers in the Conference.
Either guys didn’t want to coach with CP and Jimmy and they had to settle, or they just thought they needed to discover the next great Coordinator, but it was pretty bad.

It's happening. That whooshing sound is Dylan Morris disappearing through the transfer portal.57reasons wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 11:18 pmalso heard that Haener might come with him. i didnt like "Rudy" when he was here before because i didnt want a rookie noodle-armed QB to start over the potential all-world but also inexperienced cannon arm Eason. but now that Haener has developed with 2 years starting at Fresno, including a near upset of the Ducks in which he dramatically outplayed the opposing QB, for just one grad year season to mentor boy wonder Sam (or at least provide some competition), i'd be down for that.

I hate this frickin transfer portal. Its totally ruining college sports. Makes it hard to want to invest emotionally in a team when everyone just up and leaves for a different school every year. So you got a good recruiting class? doesn't really matter because you got to recruit them all again to get them to stay.

S o what's Huard going to do if it looks like Haener's going to win the job?

Not sure he will. If DeBoer can do that with Haener, imagine what he can do with Huard. Besides, Haener has transferred once already. I have heard that unless he graduates and does a grad transfer, he has to sit a year.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 7:00 pmS o what's Huard going to do if it looks like Haener's going to win the job?

Huard wasn't given a shot this year, and we started out like dog shit because of it. If we are going to lose to Montana and get trounced by Michigan, why not do it while the Freshman learns? No, this shit head staff decides the time to throw the Freshman out there is the last game of the year in a Cross State rivalry.
If Huard has started all I year I think we beat Montana. Morris was TERRIBLE in that game. REFUSED to check out of run plays with 9 and 10 in the fucking box. We also beat ASU, OSU and Colorado...probably UCLA. Hell, we should have beaten Utah!
Then? We enter the Apple Cup with a shot at a North title. Our QB isn't starting his first game, and who knows!?
Morris flat out blew the Montana, Oregon St., Utah, ASU, UCLA and Colorado game. BLEW them. The worst that could have happened is a QB with an actual future blew the games instead. But, as I said, any other Husky QB beats Montana. Take the other five Conference losses and maybe even Oregon? Does anyone actually think we lose all of them with a QB that has an arm and a couple of balls?
