Bears were 6th in yards per game with Desai as DC.

Relatively new to the DC side of things, but who knows? Before that, he was the safeties coach and a 'defensive quality control' coach before that. All with the Bears.

Pretty sure I heard today that he is a psychologist. Good skill to have on this staff! LOL

2021 Bears Defense:

Total Yards per game: 6th

Passing Yards per game: 3rd :)

Rushing Yards per game: 23rd

Obviously the Passing yards are FAR more important as the overall ranking attests.

Bears were 22nd in points allowed. Broncos third. Stats can definitely lie when evaluating coaches. I didn't follow either team enough to know, but it would seem on paper that the Bears didn't have as much talent. They have a couple good LBs but what else? I want to see a coach that can take fair-to-middling talent and make them competitive.

Yep the 22nd in points is definitely a lie. That's why I didn't include it. Bears offense had 29 takeaways, tied for second worst only one behind the Giants 30 which was the worst.

Desai received his undergraduate degree in philosophy and political science, with a minor in biology, from Boston University in 2004. Desai earned a master's degree in higher and post secondary education from Columbia University in 2005. Desai earned his doctorate in educational administration in 2008 at Temple University, and was an adjunct professor for two years.
