Even if they bump it a full 200k per player that is $114M or 3.8M per team. About 3% of the average payroll. But that's somehow a deal break.Minimum salary
The minimum is no small matter in baseball, affecting a sizable number of players as the league skews younger. As Travis Sawchik wrote in November, 571 players (63.2 percent of all MLB players in 2019, the last season in which complete full-season data was available) had between zero and three years of service. All but the Super Twos — the 22 percent of two-plus players who qualified for arbitration — were essentially bound to salaries at the minimum or slightly above.

Other than both sides thinking they are starting pitchers and need four days rest between meetings, things seem to still be progressing....

At the end of the day nobody on both sides are going to feel like they won anything when this is said and done. Which usually means they’ve worked out a fair agreement

Yep, exactly. Too much to lose and not enough to gain by losing regular season games....Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 1:29 pmAt the end of the day nobody on both sides are going to feel like they won anything when this is said and done. I think we're in that portion of the negotiations where the two parties just stare at each other waiting for the other one to blink.

It appears that the players don't want to budge on the expanded playoffs without more owner concessions, and the owners are willing to stall to have only a partial season if the players don't want to have an extended playoff.
