Have you entered the contest yet????

I have no clue about how drafts go. I don't follow the individual college players very closely or know what other teams might be looking for with their top picks. The Hawks' draft never goes "normally," so to me it is just a good time to find out who we pick and then scout them.

However, I did score some sweet seats to see The B-52s and The Tubes at McCaw Hall August 22. Farewell Tour. I've never seen them in concert and thought I never would!

So if this is a draft party thread, let's make it "Party Out of Bounds!"

I'll be very surprised if they don't trade down at nine. Other than that, I have zero insight into how this will go. Some F.O. frat buddies will be in the War Room this evening and even though they won't tell me anything, sometimes they send me some fun pics and details after the fact or right when the selection is going down. If I hear anything juicy (Smoo-yay), I'll share it on this thread.

One thing that makes me think they may hold at nine and pick is I got a text from one of those guys last night that simply said, "...as the Beatles sang -Number 9 Number 9 Number 9."

More excited for this draft than any other in many years.
you have buddies in the war room?? God, I would love to sit in on one just once. I'd love to see the process, and it'd be so exciting watching things come together. If you get any stories about what happened, almost happened, didn't happen, etc, let us know.

I picture every pick being bounced around, possibly traded, considering options, last minute changes. It's interesting to see in retrospect. I just watched the (I think) 2014 draft where Elway held out, Marino fell, the Seahawks took Curt Warner, who was one of the greatest picks in franchise history, but Elway WANTED to come to Seattle, we traded the #2 overall which ended up being Eric Dickerson, and traded another pick that ended up being Bruce Matthews, so we had three future HOFers that could have been Seahawks. That probably happens with almost every good player in every draft.

Paul Allen was my frat brother at WSU, but two years ahead of me. And my first wife was his personal administrative assistant for years after he left Microsoft and founded Asymetrix around 1982 or so. We used to all play softball, volleyball, swim and play foosball on MI every weekend in nice weather. Sunday cookouts, parties at his beautiful home...it was a different age; we all were kids in our 20s, never to be repeated nowadays.

Several other frat bros are still in the F.O. in Renton, and they were exceptionally good to me when my wife Julie passed away in 2019 when I was a wreck. Love those guys. Bros forever.

Not that they'd tell me anything before it happens lol. Or anyone, for that matter. That info goes nowhere until it is announced.

I wouldn't expect advance notice, stories about what almost happened AFTER would be awesome, though.

That's really cool. By all accounts, Paul Allen was a good man, and he was absolutely good for football in Seattle. Always will be thankful for that.

Very sorry to hear about your wife, though. Hope you're doing OK now.

Thanks for that. It's been a long road back and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. But this spring I've finally got my spirit back after 30 months of misery. I've even started to watch a few M's games. Who are these guys???

There are well over 100 mock drafts online.

1. Pick one
2. Copy the top 10 picks
3. Open the Contest thread
4. Paste it in there.

An 11 seconds process.

LOL, All right, already! What a rag! I think I scouted this for about the same amount of time that you spent picking your Masters' field.

pro tip: forget all those mock drafts and steal my original picks. I changed almost everything on there, so clearly THAT is wrong, and I'm waiting to hear "if only you stuck with your original, you'd have won"
