Hancock will be ready to compete for a spot in the rotation this Spring. Bye Marco.
I say move Marco and let Brash have a chance at starter.

Castillo
Ray
Gilbert
Kirby

Brash/ Hancock/ Dollard/ Miller that's your 5th starter/Depth for 2023. Sign a guy to be the long relief that can be a depth starter if Flexen Opts out, or you can trade him.
Teams don't seem to want to waste a roster spot on a long reliever these days. I guess I don't know for sure about other teams but Jerry definitely doesn't.
What was Milone doing on the roster then?

Milone was on the roster for about 5 weeks mainly to spell Kirby when he went down. He pitched 16 innings. They aren't going to break camp with a long reliever with the expectation they will be part of the team the entire season. They will just rely on the other guys that you mentioned.

Hancock now at 70 innings with 5 weeks left in the season. Even if he only starts about once a week and 6 innings a start he will be right at 100 IPs so will be able to go ~130 IPs next season. Very easy to manage that given he will be the 5th starter.
It seems that Hancock will make the top 100 (mlb pipeline) before the season is over.

Boyd with two scoreless innings in rehab. Who goes bye bye if the M's bring him up?

He probably comes up when the roster expands

Depends on when Boyd is ready. Do they want to stretch him out a bit so he can pitch 3-4 innings, or is he just the lefty reliever in place of Boruki. If its the latter, then I could see him coming up and Brash getting optioned until Sept.

Guessing the former. Only two weeks until Sept. He will need at least 3-4 more appearances to that gets us there.
