He's been sort of average to above average in Modesto for nearly two full seasons before sort of exploding at Everett for just a few weeks. It's hard to believe the performance is real without seeing him sustain over a longer time period. My guess is he's taking advantage of the league not knowing him and we'll see his numbers regress next year.

He hit decently in Tacoma, considering that he was 18 years old at the time. No, I don't expect him to have an OPS of over 1.000 at Arkansas next year.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 10:01 pmHe's been sort of average to above average in Modesto for nearly two full seasons before sort of exploding at Everett for just a few weeks. Still not getting why he should be promoted if he is going to be protected...ice99 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 10:11 pmHe hit decently in Tacoma, considering that he was 18 years old at the time. .870 OPS in Modesto and hitting .342 with only a 21% K rate in 153 PAs. That isn't a small sample...GL_Storm wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 10:01 pmHe's been sort of average to above average in Modesto for nearly two full seasons before sort of exploding at Everett for just a few weeks. He started hitting a lot of HR the spring of last year. His K rate is a bit high, but he's still got huge power. The most encouraging thing is the K rate continuing to go down though. So has a long way to go because he's strictly a 1B though, so he needs to hit and hit well. Still more of a long shot to make the mlb club.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 10:01 pmHe's been sort of average to above average in Modesto for nearly two full seasons before sort of exploding at Everett for just a few weeks. Yeah, okay. I guess he's pretty good for the level. I'm just not that impressed with those numbers from a 22 year old in low class A. But then there was the lost year, which set everyone back, so maybe I should give him more credit.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 10:18 pm.870 OPS in Modesto and hitting .342 with only a 21% K rate in 153 PAs. About a year from now we will know what we have with BPJ. Needs to put up a .800 OPS with a sub 25% K rate in Ark.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 11:37 pmYeah, okay. Here's a fun thread of potential break out players from 2 years ago with some names that have risen (Dollard, Brash, Perez)
