It was walks, hitting at T Mobile and the fact that hitting in general declined this season. Ks aren't included though.bpj wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 6:05 pmHard to believe that JP Crawford had his best season in 2022 according to wRC+.
When I look at JP's numbers I wonder why he was even in MLB before he was 25 or 26 years old.
Had to maximize the return on his defense while he was young I guess.![]()
Almost all of JP's offensive value came from limiting K's and drawing more walks.

What I'm getting at is he added value to himself by striking out 13% instead of 16% while walking 11% instead of 8% over his previous season.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 6:17 pmIt was walks, hitting at T Mobile and the fact that hitting in general declined this season. It's the ball. Carlos Santana with his 2022 OPS including his time at KC is at .692, which is good for a 102 wRC+.bpj wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 6:05 pmHard to believe that JP Crawford had his best season in 2022 according to wRC+.

Just saying that Ks aren't any different than any other type of out when calculating wRC+ or WAR. If he has the same slash line it does matter if he had a 13% K rate or a 31% K rate, he would have the same wRC+.bpj wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 6:23 pmWhat I'm getting at is he added value to himself by striking out 13% instead of 16% while walking 11% instead of 8% over his previous season.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 6:17 pmIt was walks, hitting at T Mobile and the fact that hitting in general declined this season. It will be interesting to see how far down the cumulative offensive numbers are.
Is it the concensus that it's the new balls they're using that led to the lack of offense league-wide?
Marco would also probably be a pretty good fielder, although you may have to stash him in LF with his arm, LOL.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 6:13 pmMarco: .217 with a .565 OPS

Yeah, I think that Houston fans are saving up for the ALCS and maybe some night games next week, maybe for a game 5 on Monday. Lets hope they have to use that money elsewhere.Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 6:53 pm
I had a chance to snag tickets for $45 a piece down here in Houston today.
That's kinda what I've been thinking too. They're saving up for the World Series.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 6:57 pmYeah, I think that Houston fans are saving up for the ALCS and maybe some night games next week, maybe for a game 5 on Monday. It might be just as cheap to fly to Houston, pay for 2 games and a hotel and fly back as it is to go to 2 games in Seattle.
