Uh yeah all other teams kind of need to do that as well so $30M is still likely about 5th most.

Yep. Bottom line is that it clearly isn't as cap friendly as a regular multi year deal but I am sure Cap Master JS will be able to find a way to do it if he thinks a one year deal makes more sense for the franchise.

That is not something that would prevent the Seahawks from using the tag, however, it is something that could potentially cause some headaches.

That's my point, cap master JS isn't going to create the headaches in the first place, having the restrictions of dedicating a big chunk of his cap to a franchise tag for Geno instead of trying to sign him to a contract. We shall see, I'm betting they try to sign Geno, that's how GS manages his cap

They have no intention of paying Geno 30 million for one year. (franchise tag)
They might resign him, but they won't pay him starter money if they do.
If there's no compromise to be had, they will let him walk.

Elite QBs start in year one. There are none available so you tag him. Don't draft a QB that is so lowly regarded you don't think he can start until 2025.

That's why I'd talk to Houston about trading our #12 pick this year for their first round pick next year. They probably won't be much better next year and there are four really good QB's coming out in 2024. And that would give us two First Round picks next year instead of this year. If Geno doesn't want to sign a one or two year contract, let him shop around and go pick up a place holder QB for next season.

Have any of you ever actually watched Anthony Richardson play?? Not just selected highlights, but actually watched him? He is sooooooo bad... at least as a QB. He's a great runner, and has a cannon for an arm, so yeah, you can make an impressive highlight reel, but he can't throw for shit. REALLY bad at everything you want a QB to do EXCEPT scrambling and throwing the ball 70 yards. He completes less than 50% of his passes against any team you've heard of!!! His last game he was 9-27. You can look up his numbers, but the eye test is even worse - unless you look at him as a TE or RB.

I had just got done saying I wanted a QB that can run. That guy can run and he's big enough to not get killed running.
I did glance at his stats and saw they are not as rosy as his highlight tape, which is impressive. I also don't like that he abandoned his team for
their bowl.

There were many games where RW did exactly this an the Seahawks won. so slow down with your duel-threat QB prejudice.

FYI about me, I think draft pick research, speculation and prediction is ridiculous as a fan. I was saying that this is the type
of QB I want.
