There are likely no "franchise" QB's in this draft, but there could be FOUR in next year's draft. I'd still try to talk Houston into swapping next year's First Round pick for our second first round pick this year, giving them two top 20 picks. Maybe sweeten the pot by adding another pick in this year's draft but keeping our two second round picks. Houston is so bad that gaining picks this year could help them in the long run.
And what if those picks lead them to the playoffs next season and that pick ends up in the 20s in 2024?
Then we still end up with two first round picks in 2024. The outcome you propose probably won't happen seeing how bad Houston is and their needs. Two first round picks this year likely won't move them to the playoffs. If we're around 13, they may go for it. If we drop lower, they probably won't. Every draft is a crap shoot anyway. Look at second rounder Malik McDowell.

My prediction is the Cards and either the Rams or the Colts slide ahead of us in the draft order and John trades the #5 for something like the 11th and 43rd picks.
The Broncos would have to beat the Chiefs and Chargers and the Rams lose twice. Even if the Broncos managed to win one, the Colts would have to lose all three against the Chargers, Texans and Giants. I think they win at least one of those.

Now if the Broncos maybe beat the Chargers, the stupid Cardinals might slip into the #3 spot, but that'd be the only likely issue.

Worst case is #4 pick unless something crazy happens (which is entirely possible, of course, just not likely).
Looks like something crazy is going to happen then.

RW is going to be Massively motivated to end the season on a high note so he can sleep during the long off season. If the Ravens lose we are F-d.

And the Bengals should be well-rested and in good health.
