2019 5-1 - 2018 3-3
2019 5-1 - 2018 3-3
At this time in 2018 the .The Seahawks were 3-3. This year, 5-1.
My question, are the Seahawks actually better this year?
I'm not feeling it. I think this is basically the same quality team as 2018. The offense is slightly better
with RW having his best season. The defense is worse.

We are 5-1 with only a +19 point differential. We have that killer instinct in tight games. On the flip side, we are maybe 1-5 or 0-6 if we don't have Russell. Guy is the MVP imo hands down at this point

If RW doesn't win the most VALUABLE player award this season they need to change the name of the award to "the QB with the most passing yards" award.

I don't think the offense is necessarily better. They have taken a step back in the running game for whatever reason. Carson is still a stud. Penny can't even get on the effing field lately. Prosise and Homer are non-factors. The run blocking hasn't been very good.trharder wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 8:59 pmAt this time in 2018 the .The Seahawks were 3-3. This year, 5-1.

The defense should be doing better, but they insist on playing their base defense all the damned time and teams are taking advantage of that with quick-hit underneath passes. Norton doesn't seem able to draw up anything that might generate a pass rush and the Seahawks are now near the bottom of the league on pace for 27 sacks with two DE's that are supposed to excel at pass rushing. Obviously they need Reed and the penetration he can get, but how often are we seeing blitzing LB's or DB's? The defense they are running isn't working.

It appears the 49ers are much better than last year. They handled the Rams no problem and blew out
the team the Seahawks just squeaked by.

Yep the Pythagorean theory is definitely worthless in football. I look forward to playing the 49ers

We will need to beat the NIners to win the division, that is clear. I like our chances of a Wild Card berth, barring winning the division. Main competition would be Carolina and Minnesota. Carolina still has @SF, @GB & @NO on its schedule. Of course, we play both the Vikings and Panthers later in the year, so we have a lot of say in our destiny.
I do think that the team is better, overall. I think there is better depth in the defense, and our pass rush is getting more effective, with Reed about to return. They are forcing turnovers, and that is a good sign. Losing Dissly hurts the consistency of the offense. It appeared that Russ was using him as his safety valve. Hopefully, Willson can step up and take some of that load. Receivers are doing well, and I think that Metcalf, Brown and Moore will continue to improve with experience.
No doubt, there is room for improvement, but I am fairly optimistic here sitting at 5-1.
