They should probably move Crawford to leadoff for awhile, because he might be starting one of his month-long hot streaks.

I guess I should have prefaced that by saying.... unless your name is Ohtani lol. I didn't see Wards HR but just watched the replay on mlb.com. Those were impressive for sure, but the park is still too favorable toward pitching, particularly this time of year.seth8734 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 4:38 amAngels hit 2 but both were cannons and great hitters. Thought Teo was supposed to hit the ball hard. All I see is weak contact!!!TraderGary wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 4:35 amOne thing they could do to improve the offense is bring those damn fences in again. You need a fucking cannon to hit it out of there this time of year.

Exactly yes. Lefty killer that is funny and same for Pollock. They did great tonight against lefty. Maybe tomorrow will be better but back to back home series losses. No way in hell this offense does anything against Ohtani. I see maybe no hitter Weds! Wouldent be shocked way this offense is going.Southpaw773 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 4:41 amseth8734 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 4:38 amAngels hit 2 but both were cannons and great hitters. He’s Robbie Ray if he was a hitter

And you correctly predicted the 1-4 start?seth8734 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 4:47 amExactly yes. Lefty killer that is funny and same for Pollock. They did great tonight against lefty. It will be a tall task and I am sure the Umps will be out in full force giving the presumed MVP every call.
Perhaps this is where they pull their head out.

Our 5 new players are now a combined 3-50. I guarantee you that never before in the history of MLB has that happened.
And I'll never get why we don't throw at Ohtani the way he stuck it to us. It's perfectly within the unwritten rules of the game. Seriously, DO IT.

Some early observations:
1) Teoscar was the big offensive addition in the offseason and so far his bat has been absent. Maybe he's a streaky hitter? He's swung at a few pitches he clearly shouldn't have, so maybe not the most disciplined hitter in the world.
2) Second base seems like a real problem.
3) DH is also a problem
4) Pollock hasn't shown much yet, but I've liked some of his AB's. Too soon to know yet on him. But I would have him starting at DH if he isn't playing the field.
5) I feel like we're seeing way too much Matt Festa and Penn Murfee this early in the season
6) Kirby pitched pretty well today. He also throws too many fastballs. But he did throw his curveball, which was nice to see.
7) As a team, it seems like there is a real lack of punishing fastballs. I've been reviewing each game on Savant and yeah, they're getting a lot of secondary stuff, but they're getting fastballs in the zone too, and fouling them off or getting fooled into looking at them.
8) I'd like to see them walk more, especially against the likes of Reid Detmers, who doesn't have the greatest command.
