OK, so what we have now is a real world affirmation of what many here on the forum were clamoring for. Another starting pitcher. The problem with this way of thinking was that it likely would have cost the M's either Flexen or Marco. Unfortunately we'd be no better off than now, starting pitcher wise. Another fallacy? We are up to our ears in pitching, in the majors and in the minors. Oops.

Could we use another bat in the lineup? Of course, what team couldn't use another bat? But we couldn't, or wouldn't afford to get one. How much better would the team be now with one year of Nelson Cruz? What would it have cost the M's in addition to money? Tommy LaStella and his 0.077 batting average?

Somehow I think the M's figured the team would once again avoid injuries this season. Unfortunately there is such a thing as "regression to the mean." Let's sit on our hands and hope the kids will improve and we won't see any major injuries this season. Will this attitude change? Not likely even though the M's made more money last season than any other organization in MLB. Being a pessimist, I naturally presume the team is going to crash and burn. No amount of great chub house chemistry can weather the storm of being 18 games below .500 at the end of the season when the team was projected to be around 18 games above .500 in October. More Pixie Dust, please.

When do we officially stick a fork in this team? Personally, I have no faith in them. What was gained from last year has been flushed down the crapper.
Got to admit that it is getting to this point. Maybe to liven things up we can start a pool for each game that predicts which inning and number of outs the team implodes. 27 possibilities for each game! Maybe more if they go to extra innings!

By the way, walking my dog took me 2 hours so I missed the carnage after the 8-7 score.
