Houston 2 pick rumor.jpg

This could seriously scramble the eggs is Houston finds a way to drop out of #2 and stay in the top 7 or 8. The likely candidate to take #2 from Houston are the Raiders. But are they willing to give up the capital to do so?
Like I said, Houston and Arizona both want out of 2 and 3, but nobody is willing to give up the capital, which then makes me think, why would anybody think the Seahawks could trade back from if Arizona or Houston can't. I think Seattle sticks and picks. And I think it's for a QB. It just makes too much sense for them not too. I think Witherspoon goes 6 to Detroit, which is why they traded Okudah to Atlanta.

Pete and John may surprise us all and go for Witherspoon. Didn't Marcus Trufant go to us at 11 back in the day?

With how things are tilting right now, and if rumors are true about Houston taking Anderson, I don't think anyone is moving within the top 5. AZ takes Jalen Carter, I think Detroit drafts Tyree Wilson, and the Raiders get the remaining QB available, which I have a strange feeling could actually be CJ Stroud. It's what the NFL script writers want

Naw, Anthony Richardson has Raiders written all over him, if the NFL script writers are controlling it, they have him behind Jimmy G for half a season, then he comes in and flashes like early Kaepernick.

I would bet there's at least 2 trades in the top 5, maybe 3. It's gonna be a wild draft.

Adam Schefter disagrees with you. He says Houston and Arizona desperately want out of 2 and 3. But that nobody wants to trade up. Personally, I think teams are beginning to see that these QB's are unfinished products and that word is finally getting out, so teams are now reluctant to move up at all.

I can give a shit if Schefter or any other talking head agrees with me. They're all just guessing, they know no more than I do about what teams will do. Yeah, they have more connections, but are also getting fed truckloads of steaming crap, so it's still just a guess. If Houston and/or Arizona want to trade out of 2 and 3, they can. EVERY TEAM wants pick 2 and 3, it's just a matter of what price they'd pay for it. If nobody wants to pay their price, their price has to come down, or it won't happen. If they're desperate, then there ya go - the price goes down. If it goes down far enough, somebody will absolutely trade for the pick.

What's interesting is how different teams value different things. Some like tape and production (like me and the Patriots) and will go for Stroud and Young. Others like combine numbers and measurables (like you and the Raiders), and will go for Levis and Richardson. Some will take someone with red flags (Browns) and go Carter, some will take the safest bet and go Anderson, and some team will believe all the pundit hype and take Wilson.

There is no reason for anyone to trade now. A lot can change between now and draft day as far as who is going to do what. Why trade now if their is a chance that on draft day your guy will fall to you. The trades will happen on draft day when teams see how things are shaking out and they have a more concrete feel of where they need to be in the draft to get the guy they want.

It's out there that Houston are not just taking calls but actually making calls and not getting interest in #2. And it is doubtful they want to move back to #7 because it might take them out of either Anderson or Wilson. Houston has a major need at Edge so Anderson makes sense, and they might be more interested in banking on Mills driving them into another top 5 pick so they can take a chance at QB in the talented 2024 field. This move could really turn the Texans' franchise around.

Furthermore, since Houston is not getting any good bites from teams at #2, I doubt AZ is getting any reasonable bites at #3. All 4 QBs have their major imperfections and one blue chip DT has more question marks than the Riddler. Nobody is chomping at the bit for #2 or #3.

annnnnnnd THIS is why teams feed a bunch of bullshit information about who they're picking. If you let it be known who you are going to take, other teams can plan around it, and there's no reason to trade with you (unless that guy is the guy you want). It's why Houston is spreading the rumor they aren't going to take a QB at 2 - because everybody knew what they were going to do. It'd be ridiculous for them NOT to take a QB. It's also why the Seahawks have been so public about scouting the QBs, yet the fact Will Anderson was in Seattle today got no mention.

JS/PC are playing chess and Houston and Arizona are playing chinese checkers (can't even give them credit for regular checkers, because they're so bad at it nobody knows WTF they're playing).
