Re: Grade the Seahawks 2023 Draft
Imagine if McIntosh just had a bad jump and is really 4.4 40 guy. lol Do they do much runs and take the best one?

You or my Dad will definitely be making a run to Tulalip Casino in the near future!!!maoling wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 2:02 amDonn Beach wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 1:37 amAccording to ESPN college football reporter Chris Low, he views Oluwatimi as the biggest steal of the draft.
Here is what he said about the pick:
"Centers are typically drafted lower than they should be, but seeing Michigan's Olusegun Oluwatimi slip to the fifth round was surprising -- but great news for the Seahawks that they could wait that long to get their center of the future. The 6-3, 310-pound Oluwatimi will play 10 years in the NFL and be a fixture in the middle of that Seattle offensive line. He played on college football's best offensive line last season and won the Outland Trophy as the top interior lineman in college football and the Rimington Award as the top center. He has played in three different systems (Air Force, Virginia and Michigan) and will develop rapidly into a top-tier NFL center."
When you look at this draft in totality (while mouth-breathing peon fanboys like me had an endless hard-on for Jalen Carter at 5), the way the VMACs have addressed about everything this offseason: contracts, cap, FA signings, depth, a look to the future, character and leadership, returning vets, it's a thing to behold.

Yeah a healthy season would be a huge blessing.
I think we kind of broke the curse last year. Tyreke Smith was the only one, and he was one of those "raw potential" 5th round picks, so maybe the year off observing actually helped him. We don't know if he could actually be good.
JSN is the one real injury concern. He barely played the whole season - that's not a minor hamstring pull.

They do two and take the best one. McIntosh doesn't have blazing top end speed, but he is shifty AND will run people the fuck over. Saw him lower his shoulder and knock a safety out (not cold, but dude had the wobbly leg). Honestly, though, the difference between a 4.4 and a 4.6 isn't noticeable save for a few carries a season and it is way overblown. I doubt Larry Csonka or Jerome Bettis ran 4.4s. In fact, I bet Marshawn wasn't much faster than 4.6.

I honestly can't figure why he was pretty much ignored in the draft class. JMS, Wypler and Tippmann got all the attention, but I'm not reading anything negative about Olu, only lots of positives, and he played on maybe the best O-Line in college football.maoling wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 1:07 amIf the O-linemen turn out to be good, the offense could be something special.
I think we've found our forever center in Olu. This guy is off the charts in brains and leadership.

Right, maybe the best center in the draft, but also perhaps the smartest guy to ever play center in NFL history. How does he slip that far to us?

Re: Grade the Seahawks 2023 Draft
I give this draft class a hard A. They beefed up everywhere - my favorite 'critique" of the clueless 'experts' complaining about drafting Charbonnet when we already had walker - just the fact they don't understand the critical need for depth at that position - and then they get that baller from Georgia. One of the best moves to give Seattle a ridiculously deep and talented backfield to go along with that receiving corp. Depth depth depth. Grabbing the center and guard? Oooof. They beefed up the front seven enough and now have the fiercest secondary in the league. The linebacking room is till thin, but they'll probably rely on the secondary to make up for it. I was worried when they didn't snag that center from Minnesota - but then they actually upgraded from him. All blue chip players, too. These guys hit a monster homerun again this year.
Yeah, other than that it totally sucked.

My question now is who are the frontrunners gonna be for Caleb Williams & Drake Maye in 2024?
Houston got Stroud
Indy got raw Richardson
Carolina got Young
