Because lately they only want about 17 relievers that can only throw 1 inning.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 6:22 pmNever understood why teams don't do more of this (I suppose it's because they don't generally have this luxury)...
But why not have Miller/Woo throw 4 to 5 innings and then Hancock switches off "starting" the end of the game and he goes 5 to 8 or 9?

I say shut him down for the year if it's anything remotely serious. He's at about 100 innings pitched, doubled from last year.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 7:36 pmWoo to the IL

Woo has some nice things going for him but a 2-pitch arsenal is getting him killed against lefties. If he's not traded and once healthy, get him developing a change so he can get lefties out.
I'm excited for Hancock. He's got a much more complete repertoire than Woo, and possibly Miller.

Yeah, I'm sure it's as minor as minor gets. Just a way to stash him and control his workload while bringing up another capable starter.
Yup, I'm with Seattle or Bust. Hancock is the guy of the three who started at AA Ark this year that I think is the most developed pitcher. Can't wait to see him pitching in the big leagues with our defense, better umpires, better fields, etc. because man, his stuff plays.

Lost in all this is the M's DFA'd Matt Festa.
Amazing that in an org that turns anyone with a slider into a high leverage arm... Festa, the once golden child, has crashed and burned.
Not going to make it very far with a 91-93 MPH fastball if you struggle with command.

Pressure must be too big in the big league stadiums.

But his walk and strikeouts rates were extremely subpar.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 8:44 pmHe had a 0.53 in AAA. 0.79 WHIPSeattle or Bust wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 8:24 pmLost in all this is the M's DFA'd Matt Festa.
