This is the first time I have ever heard any one compare the two offenses as remotely comparable and I am on twitter all day every day. The current offense is as dominant as the 1991 defense is what I have said.Walla Walla Dawg II wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 9:03 pmI am getting kind of tired of hearing everyone talk about how this team is making them feel like the early 90's again.
I call bullshit on that!!
Those teams in the early 90's were DEFENSIVE juggernauts, not offensive juggernauts. They would go onto the field and dare you to snap the ball. The other teams ALL knew they would bet an ass whipping just by being on the same field and daring to snap the ball.
You want proof......
That's when the "All I saw was purple" quote was born.
But that was our Dawgs then.
The Tui team of 2000/2001 has more similarities to this team; a more offensive team with a decent/good defense.
The true comparison to a "more current" team would be the Joe Burrow team at LSU a few years ago. Nobody knew where Burrow came from, but all of a sudden, he was a passing juggernaut with a decent/good defense.

I tend to agree with that.
I do hang other places, and I keep hearing about how this team feels like the team of 1991...which I don't agree with. If they are trying to compare the atmosphere of the winning, then yes, I'll agree, but the two teams are so polar opposite.
I honestly don't know which one I like more:
The excitement of scoring in grand fashion every possession
or
The ass-kicking that 1991 defense did to the opposite team

That D was amazing. I lived with several of those guys like Chico Fraley and Donald Jones in Lander Hall in the late 80s. The use to make a Giant "cocktail in a rubber trash can. It consisted of Old English 800, Vodka and Koolaid. They called it Blood juice.Walla Walla Dawg II wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 10:23 pmI tend to agree with that.

No change in the top 7. I'm surprised Oregon didn't pass us.
