Looks like 4.43 ERA for Giolito compared to a 4.68 ERA for Silva for their careers.

Giolito has about the same career ERA (4.43) as Justin Dunn (4.44) currently has.

Woo has a 4.21.
Miller has a 4.32.

I'm not sure there's much upside in Giolito as a 30yo, but maybe there's something with him they can fix.

For trivia purposes only: In 2012 Harvard-Westlake High School in Los Angeles had a starting rotation of Max Fried, Lucas Giolito and Jack Flaherty, who all were Opening Day MLB starters in 2021:

What's appealing about a pitcher who is worse than Carlos Silva Gabe?
Carlos Silva from 16 years ago is an awfully random comp for Lucas Giolito. :D :D :D

Scroll down to similarity scores.
Well one was the worst FA SP signing in M's history and one has an even worse ERA+ the prior two seasons and ERA+ is supposed to compare pitchers across different eras in time so I think it is a hell of a comp. I wonder why Jerry and staff decided not to simply fix Gallardo following signing him after his disastrous season in 2016.

Sure lets sign and trade for a bunch of guys that need fixing. They will be really cheap saving Stanton even more money and if it doesn't work we can just try again in 2025.

It is definitely amazing. I don't think we had a single pitcher on our team even pitch for a community college. lol

M's fans crying about "missing out" on 35 yo 108 OPS+ Mark Cahna. The love affair M's fans have with mediocre players is something.....
