I’m just finding the irony in trading TO for Marco, now they dump the salary of Marco, and have to trade other assets to get TO back.

Sadly his control would have run out already, but Dipoto signed him to an overpaid extension which is what we've been saddled with.

During the middle of a rebuild, when mariners weren’t even trying to make the playoffs, when he actually had some trade value.

I'm happy he extended Julio, but Dipoto really shouldn't be anywhere near the checkbook. Terrible history.

He’s been doing well in the draft lately, who deserves the CrossFit for that though, not sure. The first go around, he really had crap to work with to get help. Tyler O’Neill was the most valuable piece, and he got Marco. They had nobody coming up from the minors that could help. He sure as heck tried and failed at rounding out the roster though.

That trade would give us 2 OFers and a DH/1B with OPS of .789, .813 and .824 for Woo & Ford and would only increase payroll by $13.4M. Those three combined for 8.1 WAR last season.
