We need $50 to be competitive we could solve just about every need.
We can actually do a lot to improved the offense with the Rays or Reds trades that I suggested but we will likely weaken the rotation going from Woo or Miller to Hancock but there isn't enough funds to sign a FA starter. Maybe they could trade prospects for a Backend starter.
Tyler Glasnow could be a good one to add into a trade for our young starter.

Only one year of control left, but he'd be a positive addition to get us through Ray's injury and Hancock's development.
Great idea but guessing they won't be interested in paying all of his $25M salary.

Putting this here. Don't need to start a new thread for Hot Stove news or thoughts. Thanks.

With the Big O off the board it’s now a free for all for the rest of us. Since Jerry is unlikely to win any bidding war he needs to get down on his knees and beg Stanton for the funds to sign Snell. This gives him trade flexibility with just about anyone needing pitching. Our options for landing a significant bat increase significantly and it sends a message to the core that might keep them from jumping ship

Naylor would be good. I love me some L/L 1B types. He's got average, some power, and a miniscule k-rate. What's not to love about that profile?

Does Cleveland need pitching. Just wondering if they would trade him given their weak offense.

They probably shouldn't trade Naylor. There's been talk about trading Bieber though since he has one year left before free agency, so if that happens maybe Naylor gets traded for a pitcher.

Cleveland has a decent core of Jose R/ Bo & Josh Naylor and decent players except for outfield and DH. It looks like they have several good young starters.
Bibee (24) had a 140 ERA+
Bieber (former CY) is 28 and coming off a 110 ERA+
Allen (24) 109 ERA+
Williams (23) 127 ERA+

Their #3 prospect Daniel Espino looks legit and is expected to be back sometime between May and July 2024.

On the positive side. Their #2 prospect is a 1B that they brought over from TB in a deadline deal last year. He is a 55 grade prospect so top 100 type.

I could see them as 2 OF and a DH away from having a line-up to compete with. Sign Teo, Sign Belt, ( Call up the #2 1B Manzardo, Call-up #4 prospect OF Delauter.

I could see Cleveland adding a couple of players and being right there competing for a title. There is also the Bieber rumors. So, maybe they you trade Bieber for a MLB ready outfielder, and then turn Josh Naylor into Miller or Woo? I could see the Tribe standing pat, buying, or selling.

I guess time will tell.

It's sort of wild to me the amount of fans out there defending Jerry because ownership has pulled the rug a bit.

Maybe he shouldn't make promises he can't keep and then hold water for the ownership group. He's the voice of this thing and just as guilty in selling us snake oil.

"...we feel like we become a fun and interesting team by ‘21, and then we have a young core on the field. And by that time, with some of the moves we’ve made that have brought all of this young talent into the system, we’ve also been able to cut off a lot of future salary commitment that then becomes capital to reinvest in player acquisition.

Spin, spin, spin...
