Why won't Gilbert re-sign here? He loves this team's management and staff.
Bro. You are hilarious.

I love that the Divish thing hasn't made you stop and think in the slightest.

If I had to guess out of my ass....

I'd say the Mariners are using Garver strictly as a DH who in a pinch / rare occasion could catch if he had to.
Seby is going to be your backup catcher.

With that said unless we dance with Tampa Bay for Arozarena/Paredes....how about a trade with MN for Max Kepler and Jorge Polanco???

Not flashy but it's better than anything else we have out there in the corner outfield spots and/or second base.

Personally I don't want to see an entire season of Rojas / Caballero combo. OMG!

If we have to watch Taylor Tramell and Cade Marlow it's gonna be a long year 5-9 in the order.

Just spitting ideas out there.
Max Kepler and Jorge Polanco are guaranteed a combined $21.25 million (counting the $750,000 buyout of Polanco's 2025 club option).

That might not be the wisest use of scare resources.

Polanco's guarantee of $11.25 million matches the combined projected and guaranteed 2024 salaries of Luis Urias, Josh Rojas and Dylan Moore.

Kolten Wong certainly brought down Seattle's production at second base in 2023. In the first half of the season the Mariners ranked 11th in the league with 0.3 fWAR from second base:

Aided by Wong's DFA on July 31, the Mariners in 73 second-half games ranked sixth in the league with a robust 2.7 fWAR (and a league-average 101 wRC+) from second base:

The second-half rebound was fueled by Rojas, Caballero and Moore, who remain on the Seattle roster. The Mariners have since added Urias, who would likely slot at third base if the season started today. Second-base prospect Ryan Bliss is projected to debut in 2024.

Like most teams, the Seattle Mariners have offseason needs but second base does not top the list.

Agree. Just focus on Kepler or Randy or Steer.

I think Kepler + Polanco is just about the best thing they could do now considering financial restraints.

Polanco would thankfully move Urias off 3B and into more of a utility role.

1. JP Crawford SS
2. Jorge Polanco 3B
3. Julio Rodriguez CF
4. Mitch Garver DH
5. Cal Raleigh C
6. Ty France 1B
7. Dom Canzone LF
8. Josh Rojas 2B
9. Max Kepler RF

Not amazing, but you've just reduced your strikeouts by nearly 300

Also likely saves you both Woo and Miller.

Maybe but he has only started 15 games in 10 seasons at 3B. Who are we giving up in that trade?

Considering the cash and time left, a package around Hancock and say Clase? + maybe a couple smaller names.

Polanco has a negative 19.8 UZR/150 in 180 career innings at third base (including a negative 8.7 in 103 innings this year) while Urias has a UZR/150 of 2.1 in 1,319.1 career innings at third base (including a UZR/150 of 18.6 in 128 innings this year).

Over the past two seasons Injuries have limited Polanco to 184 games and Urias to 171 games.

Polanco has a 2024 salary of $10.5 million (plus a $750,000 buyout of a $12 million club option for 2025) while Luis Urias is projected to earn a 2024 salary of $4.7 million in his second-to-last arbitration season.
