I don't understand how Rudolph got off Scot free
I don't either. He had lost it and needed to settle the eff down. I'm sure he was frustrated by sucking and the Browns still trying to pad their sack stats, but he was digging around in Garrett's helmet before Garret lost his mind. More over, and I guess I'm just a sapp, but I would have liked to see Rudolph come out in support of Garrett. Saying they had both lost their cool and that the NFL should show some mercy on Garrett.

It's a violent sport. I think the NFL is wrong to apologize all over the place and overreact with a long suspension for Garrett. I have no idea if Garrett has any priors.

IMO, Rudolph looks like a punk. If he was upset about them padding their sack totals, call a run play and get the eff off the field. Instead he goes psycho after the hit, which looked clean to me, then chases after him after his helmet is ripped off, then calls Garrett bush league in an interview and now his agent is talking about legal actions! He makes Big Ben seem normal and drama free!

My favorite is how the guy who tried to snatch a players helmet off for being sacked, charged at player who was being restrained by his teammate after kicking and punching said player in the balls called Garrett a "coward ".

Yeah. No excuse for what Garrett did...but had he not hit Rudolph with the helmet, would the national media be bashing on Mason? I actually heard Cowherd say Rudolph can do what ever he wants there, because that’s what you do in a fight. WTF...if Rudolph had taken the hit like 31 other QBs woulda done there wouldn’t have been a fight! Big Ben, as much as I hate him, would be getting evicerated right now...and Rudolph is some kind of victim? It’s the new NFL. I think Russ should cleat Donald in the balls the next time we play them. Why not? In the immortal words...just do it!

Garrett wrapped up Rudolph after he had thrown the ball, wrangled him to the turf and then pinned him down for an excessive amount of time. Was that Mason's fault?

Kidding about what? The rules stipulate that once the ball has left the QB's hand the defender must lay off. Not only did Garrett not lay off, he doubled down.
A rushing defender is prohibited from committing such intimidating and punishing acts as “stuffing” a passer into the ground or unnecessarily wrestling or driving him down after the passer has thrown the ball, even if the rusher makes his initial contact with the passer within the one-step limitation provided for in (a) above. When tackling a passer who is in a defenseless posture (e.g., during or just after throwing a pass), a defensive player must not unnecessarily or violently throw him down or land on top of him with all or most of the defender’s weight. Instead, the defensive player must strive to wrap up the passer with the defensive player’s arms and not land on the passer with all or most of his body weight.

Okay, I'll give you this. Garrett might not have realized that Rudolph had gotten rid of the ball. I think he was over-zealous in bringing Rudolph to the ground, but perhaps Rudolph tugging at his helmet caused him to continue holding on to him. At the same time, I think Rudolph justifiably was angered by how long Garrett pursued the tackle and what seemed (to him) unnecessarily dragging him to the ground. Unless Rudolph is crazy though, I don't think he really wanted any part of a tussle with Garrett, and I don't think Garrett needed to react the way he did to somebody that really posed very little threat to him.
