They are crying poor due to the Root Sports debacle but I think that instead of capping payroll to avoid losses they are capping payroll to maintain their profit margins which is just fucking gross given the pocketed a quarter billion in payroll since the start of the rebuild and counting.

That’s the boiled down issue…They promised to spend when the time was right(right now) and then this excuse. We laugh at the Astros record right now especially with us standing at the top, but we could easily get passed by those same lastros by the end of September with the way this offense is trending……..

Yeah, Astros are tied for sixth spot in terms of WS odds.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 2:19 amThe 2018 A's started 8-17... won 102 games.Coeurd’Alene J wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 11:56 pmWe laugh at the Astros record right now especially with us standing at the top, but we could easily get passed by those same lastros by the end of September with the way this offense is trending……..

I was thinking about this last night. They really need to spend on offense in 25 and 26 or a World Series is probably not going to happen.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 7:44 pm2 more years. They'll be lucky to sign one of Gilbert or Kirby and hope that Miller and Woo reach the level of Gilbert or Kirby.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 7:40 pmI mean, what is the window with this pitching staff? How many years? If they don't go for it now then they're just plain stupid.
Their pitching pipeline is empty right now.
If the Pitching staff stays good it will be pretty expensive by 2027. Right now they are paying them a combined 30.5 Million with most of that going to Castillo. All of the young guys will be well into Arbitration in 2027 which can get pricey if you are good. For instance Corbin Burnes got 15.6 Million in his final year of Arbitration, Framber Valdez got 12.1 Million in his 3rd year of Arbitration and Zach Gallen got 10 Million in his second year of arbitration. In 2027, the M's could easily be looking at 70 Million just on the rotation and a whole lot more than that if they extend guys.

Good point that even through arbitration things can get pretty expensive. You could be looking at trades even before they reach those final seasons
