Oops, didn't see that DG basically said the same thing!DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 9:52 pmExcept that if we'd traded for Kepler, their OPSs right now would probably be reversed. We just have the opposite of the Midas Touch in that everything we touch turns to shit.
And that also works in reverse. Nelson Cruz was clearly declining in his last season with us and then with the Twins his OPS jumped from .850 to 1.031/.992/.907 in his three seasons there.

Isn't the stadium where Oakland plays considered as much of a pitcher's park as T-Mobile?

I don't know if it's as much. There's a lot of foul territory, thought that qas the biggest angle
Re: 5/9 Game Thread: Splitting the Twins
It's a very pitcher-friendly park, mostly because it has huge areas in foul territory. They don't have bullpens in the outfield - they have them along first and third base, so there's plenty of outs from foul balls that would normally fall into the seats of other ballparks.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 3:40 pmIsn't the stadium where Oakland plays considered as much of a pitcher's park as T-Mobile?

But isn't that area also similar to Seattle with regard to climate conditions?

Not as cold and rainy. Not sure about the marine layer - I have never heard it mentioned like it is at Oracle or Petco. Oracle is only about 10 miles from the O dot Co, but the weather can be different in the Bay Area a few blocks away, much less miles. The weather in the old Candlestick Park could be apocalyptic. The weather in Levi's Stadium is much more reasonable.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 4:19 pmBut isn't that area also similar to Seattle with regard to climate conditions?

Game in 2019 at the coliseum with ten home runs
The Coliseum is notorious for being a tough park to hit one out, especially at night, when the marine layer tends to cause fly balls to die out. But on a warm August afternoon that saw first pitch temperature rise to an unusual 82 degrees in the Bay Area, the Coliseum was transformed into a hitter’s paradise.
“I honestly haven’t seen it fly like that,” Olson said. “I will say a lot of those are still getting out. I wouldn’t say mine to left-center gets out on a normal Oakland night, but that was awesome to see it fly. I saw in batting practice how it was flying, but it’s real hit or miss here. Glad it was carrying.”

I still don't get why it's hard to get doubles at T-Mobile. Is it a smaller than average outfield or does a combination of field surface and air density keep more balls from getting to the wall? I don't buy that the ball stays in the air longer resulting in more caught balls.

I think speed of the field both dirt and grass have something to do with it...Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2024 6:34 pmI still don't get why it's hard to get doubles at T-Mobile.
