Polanco 213
Julio 196
Raleigh 196
Haniger 179
Garver 166
France 141
Rojas 81
Moore 115
Raley 98
These two are on pace for about 250-300 plate appearances
Urias 76
On pace for about 200 plate appearances
Crawford was on pace for about 130 when he got injured
Other than Polanco waking up and maybe ending up with 180 or so, I can't see this improving at all. These guys could EASILY cut this down by as much as 1/3 and they just won't do it.
Strikeout projections at almost the 1/4 mark

Cracks me up that they're likely paying this "offensive coordinator" $500k or something to produce this shit show but will penny pinch when it comes to adding actual baseball talent.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 7:33 pmPolanco 213

This wouldn't be so horrible if we had a bunch of Aaron Judges hitting tons of homeruns, but other than Cal, we're not getting the power that traditionally comes with batters who strike out a lot.
As a TV show, "The 2024 Mariners" is not very entertaining.

We're actually ninth in MLB in home runs. Yeah, I'm also wondering how, but I guess the problem is it's all or nothing.
Our team slugging percentage is 23rd. HOW is it even possible to be ninth in home runs and 23rd in slugging percentage? I wonder if any team in MLB history has ever had a 14-spot difference like that.

With all the strikeouts Julio, Polanco, Garver and Haniger have, you'd expect they'd each be among league leaders in homeruns (based on ancient ways of thinking, like the 1990s). Cal is the only guy on our team in the top-25 in AL homerun leaders.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 8:15 pmWe're actually ninth in MLB in home runs. All I ask, dear Mariners, is if you're going to strikeout so much, hit many more homeruns.
The slugging percentage vs homeruns thing is bizarre, but I guess it does seem like we don't get many extra base hits (other than the random homeruns sprinkled through the lineup).
