If Turner is the last player acquired, DiPoto failed. There are good first basemen out there. Ryan Mountcastle's on the trading block, right? If we can't get Vlad Guerrero, then get Mountcastle or at least Yandy Diaz. Plus that one more good bullpen arm.
Rumors are Diaz close with the Yanks. Go hard for Mountcastle. Come on jerry!

Dipoto failed? The Seattle Mariners have been the most active team so far. They've got rid of a liability in the bullpen and replaced with another good arm and added 2 legitimate bats to the line-up without giving up any of our top prospects.

Paredes was one guy that we could have used but it may have been less about the package we were offering and more about how much they liked Morel from the Cubs and you can't fault Dipoto for that.

Christian Walker/Pete Alonso/Vlad Guererro Jr would have been great additions but they don't seem to be available.

Mountcastle is available but they are still contending and they certainly don't have to trade him so their asking price might have been too steep.

So sure If Yandy Diaz goes to the Astros for a package we could have easily matched then I'll fault Dipoto but this trade deadline certainly hasn't been a failure.

We added one legitimate bat. Turner's 39 and slugging .373 while playing half his games in a hitters' park. He's the classic "one year too late" guy that DiPoto loves. I don't get why anyone would be enthused about him.

This is not going to give us that push. We need one more big bat and one more good bullpen arm. And unless it's ridiculous, pay a steep price. You play to win the title.

THAT is what I don't understand about Jerry and Scott. They play scared or to live another day. Can't seem to push the button when necessary. We've been here before with this administration. Frustrating for sure.

Mariners have the best prospects to get him. Are they holding out for a certain player the mariners don’t want to give up though? Will be interesting to see. It’s not about where the prospects are ranked, it’s about how much TB likes them.

Turner's OPS is 107 which puts him firmly in the realm of a legitimate MLB bat. He has an OBP over .400 Since June 1st. With a lineup full of guys who either hit a homerun or K, That is something that we desperately need on this team. He is not a piece that is going to strike fear into the opposition but he makes them a better team.

Yep, I’m ok with raising the floor of the offense. Still need another good bat, but Turner is still an improvement

I'd take Yandy over Ryan Mountcrumble for the contact and low K propensity.

Amazing, Justin Turner played in 10 games at 2B in '23.

I still don't like the idea of Tanner Scott just because he's a rental and he'll cost at least 2 prospects. Those 2 will probably be higher rated than the 2 JD gave up for rental Yimi.

What do I know? Bring us a WS appearance and I'll gulp and keep my fingers crossed.
Rocky Colavito is a Hall of Famer in my book!
