He's got some value as a catcher, he's had periods where he's shown some power, he could give you some home runs.

Value compared to the $12 million he's making per year?Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 3:51 pmHe's got some value as a catcher, he's had periods where he's shown some power, he could give you some home runs.
I'm not sure.

Totally agree, but by the same token this particular interview doesn't seem to form part of that contractual obligation. All other outlets are reporting it as "via Divish" or "according to Divish". If I am wrong about that and he had a microphone thrust in his face then sincerely sorry Mitch, you should be protected by the team better and I am actually pleased you have got the desire and passion to sort it out.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 2:35 pmTerms of shutting up, it's considered part of a players duty to face the press after games, particularly bad ones, PR. And the medias job is to generate content out of it so is fans can bitch about it. Sure the media is sympathetic, he's talking to them, making their jobs easier. It's the players that don't talk to the press that get the negative treatment.
But it looks for all the world like within a hour of the end of the game perhaps on the way to the airport, he and Divish plus agents (who knows?) decided to construct a narrative that is designed entirely to garner empathy.
He has the lowest batting average with a minimum of 3.1 PA per team game in baseball this season by quite some margin. Outside of the contemptuous death threats, which he probably also received when he won the World Series, sympathy now exists where it shouldn't.
It clearly worked.

Another one
Lets not question the fact that we are on the hook for $28million next year and the ability to improve the team is in doubt.
Seems Mitch has made his best play of the season.

I'm not comparing, the $12 mil is irrelevant, it's a sunk cost. But I don't want Garver to walk away, that would make the roster weaker. He's an over compensated backup catcher but if Cal breaks his leg next week suddenly having Garver on the roster wouldn't be so badSeattle or Bust wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 4:32 pmValue compared to the $12 million he's making per year?Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 3:51 pmHe's got some value as a catcher, he's had periods where he's shown some power, he could give you some home runs.

He is basically saying he will continue to stink, and it’s all because some idiot fans hiding behind a keyboard said mean shit to him. I imagine Judge gets that shit the day after he doesn’t get a hit! Imagine this guy in a media market like that? These guys are soft,
In no way do I think he deserves to be told to kill himself because he makes a ton of money to be poor at his job. But he does make a ton of money to be poor at his job…and NOW he is asking us to feel sorry for him about it?
Maybe every player hitting below .220 and making mega millions should start sharing all the negative tweets they get? That way the few using it as an out don’t feel so alone? I got an idea…dump your SM accounts if you can’t handle being in the public eye and being bad at what you get paid multi millions to do. All while everyone but the fans get rich.

This team refuses to spend, but you think it’s OK to shell out that much for a guy that would have value if someone else gets hurt? That would be not much difference than justifying that the Chiefs shell out big for a backup QB.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 5:07 pm
