That's like never having a 40 HR guy in 100 years for an MLB team. I wonder if they blame the climate.
10 of 32 QBs had 4000 yards last season which is 31%.

6 of 134 Qualified hitters had 40 HRs last season which is 4%

31% of 134 is 41. 41st place in HRs last season had 25 HRs.

This is hilarious. The guy is being interviewed in a parking lot standing up. And he says it might make sense to give Geno and extension if he has done a nice job in preseason. And this Garafolo guy is some expert insider???   Go to the 16:30 mark.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EvoEad8vRQ&t=1018s
Mike Garafolo joined NFL Media in 2016 as a reporter. He contributes to all NFL Media platforms, including NFL Network's NFL Total Access, NFL Now, NFL GameDay Morning and Good Morning Football: Weekend.

Garafolo joins NFL Media from Fox Sports 1, where he covered the NFL nationally. Prior to that, Garafolo was a national NFL reporter for USA Today and a beat writer covering the New York Giants for The Star Ledger in New Jersey for eight seasons, including the Giants' victories in Super Bowl XLII and Super Bowl XLVI. For his work covering the Giants, Garafolo received an APSE award.
And he thinks Geno's performance in scrimmages and during PRACTICE is going to determine if he will get an extension before the season starts. lol
Seaside Joe on the subject, pretty much what i was thinking, an extension thats not really an extension
So instead of giving Geno a four-year, $170 million extension with real money that at least gets him into the top-15 for quarterback contracts, the Seahawks could offer cash, incentives, and injury guarantees on a deal that is mostly fake; Carr ended up making $25 million of his “$121 million contract”. That’s a lot of money for a bad 15-game season, it’s not a lot of money compared to what was reported at the time he signed the deal.

I could see the Seahawks, maybe on a date like August 31st, giving Geno Smith a lot of money in the headlines, even if it’s not enough guaranteed money to assure that he doesn’t feel the pressure of being better than he was last season.

Yeah, its more like never having a player put up a five WAR season. Can you imagine if wiiliams lives up to the hype? Talk about never having to pay for a drink

Hill compared him to Mahomes
“It’s respect,” Williams said. “It’s cool and all, but I’m Caleb Williams. Patrick Mahomes is Patrick Mahomes. Tyreek Hill is Tyreek Hill. Much love to them and things like that — I’ve met ’em, talked to ’em both, things like that — but we’re here to win games for the Chicago Bears. Da Bears.”

That's true, but big passing numbers is a relatively recent phenomenon in pro football whereas home run numbers in baseball have been fairly consistent over the past century.

Yes, definitely apples to orangutans comparison. 40 probably works better Pre 1980....

Yeah, the Bears are known for great running backs as opposed to great quarterbacks. The game changed on them

Some ugly offensive team stats from last night's game. TOP, number of plays, total yards, 3rd down efficiency, not pretty. It didn't feel that ugly when I was watching it, but then again I was drinking icy cold PBR.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/matchup/_/gameId/401673562
tale of two halves. first half was just the opposite, and that's the important one, particularly the 1st quarter when the second string and a few starters are playing. The only potential starters playing in the second half were the rookies Knight and Haynes, who got a lot of time at LG to see if he's as good on that side as he was at his normal RG. The one false start aside, he looked pretty good last night imho. Knight is probably more solidly a starter, and have to think they just want to get him as much game prep as possible, facing 3 different QBs. or one more potential starter in Derick Hall if he keeps progressing like he has shown in the first two outings. of course he hasnt done it against the regulars yet.
Lol, that must have been it. I thought we looked decent in the first half and was enjoying myself, but then I started drinking heavily because I got my playoff bet down, looked at the team box score stats the next day when I was sober and was WTF.

No Geno for two series with some number #1's for the Browns at home? I'm a little surprised at that.

That was hashed out at the beginning of this thread. Mcdonald has instituted scrimmages as really the more important tool for preparation. Not only do the starters play in those games, theres more use of the actual offense and defense. Its a pretty big difference from how pete went about it. Pete utilized the games more for evaluation. Maybe pete felt like he didnt have anything to hide

Heres another artcle about it
How much more did Grubb on offense and Macdonald on defense use of the playbook and installation in the closed, joint practices?

“I think significantly more than you’d be comfortable putting out to everybody (in the televised preseason games),” Macdonald said.

“Some of the things you’re showing, it’s a balance of like, ‘Hey, this is our best stuff right now, let’s see how it looks.’ It’s just some stuff we want to — not experiment with — but, let’s see how it looks that we really might not have as many reps as we want against someone that we’re not used to how they’re motioning and shifting, and the plays that they’re running.”

However, with the preseason finale looming on Saturday and the start of the regular season now less than three weeks away, Lucas has yet to be activated from the PUP list. Based on Macdonald's unwillingness to provide any updates on his status after Monday's practice when asked if he thought the Seahawks would have him for the opener, the organization appears to be bracing for him to not be available for September 8 against the Broncos and potentially longer.

"Right now, probably don't want to answer that question," Macdonald responded.
