Their info tells them that's the best way to score runs. TMobile depresses hits but it doesn't depress home runs

If that's the type of offense they want to build, then bring the fences in again in the power alleys, and fix the batters eye. Make the park even for both pitchers and hitters. Right now, it favors pitching far too much and messes with the batter's heads, particularly in the spring. And it makes for low-scoring boring games.

It isn't just that the games are boring. The park, in combination with the current era of pitching, seems to be breaking the balance of the game. It's a problem when you can't bring in major league average hitters and get something approaching average performance from them. The age decline can't be so steep that it's a cliff.

I wonder how our promising minor leaguers will adjust to the park. Would we be better off trading them? If they trade Logan Gilbert for a promising young hitter like Jordan Westburg or Colton Cowser, will that player simply crumble like so many others?

Except the ownership group were the ones that said, "oops that money we promised for years isn't actually there."

Jerry just did the best he could with the hand he was dealt.
Ownership could have given him more but in no way shape or form has he done the best with the money he has.

Ownership didn't make him Give Evan White a Guarenteed Major League Contract before he was even out of AA
Ownership didn't make him Give a long term deal to Marco Gonzalez.
Ownership didn't make him trade for Adam Frazier and Jessee Winker.
Ownership didn't make him give Julio a lifetime contract after 3 Months of good baseball.
Ownership didn't make him Sign Robby Ray and trade him for Mitch Hanniger.
Ownership didn't make him spend 108 Million on Castillo who is essentially your 5th best starter at this point.
Ownership didn't make him trade for Teoscar Hernadez.
Ownership didn't make him spend 24 Million on Garver.
Ownership didn't make him trade Eugenio Suarez and replace him with Luis Urias
Ownership didn't make him trade for Polanco

He has not used his resources wisely at all. They have four top of the rotation starters that are making a combined 6.3 Million They have a top 10 Bullpen that make a combined 8.4 Million. There opening day payroll was 139 Million which leaves 124 Million for the the offense and 5th starter. Any competent gm could put together a league average offense and find a serviceable 5th starter for 124 Million. Dipoto is not a competent gm.
Yes your hindsight is off the charts. Most of us applauded the 140 OPS+ bat Winker brought and Saurez was a bounce back salary dump.
Polanco, and Ray. I remember a majority of us (vastly so) counted them as good moves.

I can't stand people who look at moves at the time and go "We signed the reigning CY"! Fk, yes! And then a ho-hum 1st year followed by a injury and "The Great Leader~Cap" comes on-line and makes his little gay list and proclaims he is better and smarter and all the trades he would have made would have worked out! I would have signed only guys that would have thrived. "I Cap would have graped Billy B into trading his top 10 hitter to his division rival"! You bet ya. "I am Captain I know who fails and thrives and develops ahead of time I have a set of crystal balls between my legs that I rub and they give me insights into all future events" "I am the Alpha and the Omega, I am Cap, hear me roar."

Cut the Cap!
Thats all you got for a comeback?
Name Calling? LOL

Lets see the list of moves that worked out.

Hind sight is the only way that any GM is ever evaluated. You don't get to to screw up 95% of the time and keep your job because it had the potential to work.

The Mariners were top 10 in runs scored for 4 straight years when Safeco opened including leading the league in runs scored in 2001. they were also 11th in 2007 and 14th in 2009. Its obviously not impossible to build a respectable offense in this ballpark Pat Gillick, Bill Bavasi and Jack Z all did it. Giving Dipoto a pass by blaming it on the ballpark is a cop out.

Definitely not all about the ballpark, but...
-fix the batter's eye
-switch to faster grass, like the putting green they use at Dodger Stadium
-maybe find a way to block some of the "marine layer"

Let's remove these variables. Yeah it'll negatively affect the pitching, but if we're going to be mediocre let's not be boring. I'd rather lose 7-6 than 3-2.

Lol. Jerry's a trash bag.

The problem is that the 1/3 that haven't worked out are 90% of the players he's paid over $3M/yr. that have all been disasters.

His only successes in all of these years are Geno, Teoscar, and Luis Castillo. And dollar-for-dollar, they barely pulled their weight.

I don't know what firing DiPoto would accomplish.
Must not be important to you but I would prefer to not have a lying greasy POS that treats his employees and fanbase like idiots running my baseball team. Call me crazy.
Maybe build a team around the talent we have. Jerry sucks at it

Their info also tells them to hit JP and his .298 OBP and his 27 career steals at leadoff and Robles and his .360 OBP and 18 steals this season without getting caught 6th.

Either they ignore the analytics or the analytics is straight trash. Not sure what is worse!
