The thing that threw me over the top was when he said "were actually doing the fan base a favor" what a pompous clown.
By the way the M's need to win 132 games between now and the end of next season to get Jerry to his 54% mark over 10 years. Seems like he is even a failure by his own standards.

Even better. So more often than not we MIGHT end up in the world series. What an inspirational message. I'm sure players are just dying to come here and fight to the death for such a weak ass piece of s***Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 2:56 pmThat's what he said, no guarantee of a WS
“If you go back and you look in a decade, those teams that win 54 percent of the time always wind up in the postseason,” Dipoto said. “And they, more often than not, wind up in the World Series. So there’s your bigger-picture issue.

Which is what I've pointed out. How about he actually do it, then we can see if we make a W$ or notCaptain 97 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 3:19 pmThe thing that threw me over the top was when he said "were actually doing the fan base a favor" what a pompous clown.

Begs the question...does spending your time watching them on television make one an idiot?

Yep, as I said, my hatrid began when he traded Graveman, hid in his office like a bitch, then begged the players and fans to be patient because the deadline wasn't over yet. Then he didn't do jack shit, he really hasn't done jack shit since, and yet? Fans who have witnessed one fucking playoff appearance over what is now spanning three different decades. Should be thanking that fuckhead!? How tone deaf do you have to be. But? Let's extend this assclown so he can tell us again how the way to the playoffs is 54%, a deep farm system and trading, drafting and developing. Remind Texas again how stupid they are for spending. Remind me again how the only way the Astros win is to bring kids up from the farm system and then trade for bits and pieces.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 3:19 pmThe thing that threw me over the top was when he said "were actually doing the fan base a favor" what a pompous clown.

Remember when we needed to be careful what we wished for as Husky fans because it may never get better than Sark? We got Petersen...and a trip to the Final four. Dumping Jimmy got us deBoer and two very successful seasons...and a NC game. Six or Seven Sarkisian was never getting THIS team to a Final 4. What are we afraid of here? That the next guy might not get us even one playoff appearance in ten years? I'm willing to risk that.
Pete Carroll got one ring, and then rightfully so got a LOT of rope before he hung himself. How does THIS make sense?

And that 2001 team was the team of destiny, but a 9-11 thing happened and NYY happened to play inspired ball.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 2:56 pmThat's what he said, no guarantee of a WS

It's beyond words how these owners can be so tone deaf. I think it's come to the point that ownership is taking us, the fans that support this fucking organization, for granted. That the fans are going to support this team no matter what they do. And I guess based on results, and the fact that fans are still coming out in droves and supporting this shit show, they're right in believing that. And as long as that's true, they have no motivation to make any changes.
The answer is for people to quit supporting them. But the problem is, Seattle is so starved for a championship that whenever there appears to be even a remote chance they could compete for a WS, people are going to fill the ballpark, and the owners know it. So they do just enough to give fans hope with the knowledge that those fans are going to continue lining their pockets. Stanton and Dipoto are laughing at us.
And we're all guilty of supporting these sleazy bastards. But it seems we can't stop because like everyone else, we're hoping for a miracle.
As someone else said, it's like an abusive relationship and you don't know how to get out.
Re: M's moving forward with Greasy Jerry
My only guess is that its something like the FO knew they were sticking it to Trader Jerry by cutting payroll in the offseason so they probably promised him back then - regardless of how the season goes - we know we're f'ing you therefor you won't get fired at the end of the year. Thing for Jerry is, if he has any respect for himself and what he claims to be as a baseball exec, when he has a conversation with Ownership and if they tell him no increase in payroll or even another decrease - he should just resign then/there and say i'm out because he won't survive another year of baseball like this. If I was him - ownership either gives me the ability to fix this or I won't be their scapegoat for another horrible year.
