My only guess is that its something like the FO knew they were sticking it to Trader Jerry by cutting payroll in the offseason so they probably promised him back then - regardless of how the season goes - we know we're f'ing you therefor you won't get fired at the end of the year. Thing for Jerry is, if he has any respect for himself and what he claims to be as a baseball exec, when he has a conversation with Ownership and if they tell him no increase in payroll or even another decrease - he should just resign then/there and say i'm out because he won't survive another year of baseball like this. If I was him - ownership either gives me the ability to fix this or I won't be their scapegoat for another horrible year.
Genuine question. If you owned a team, would you hire him to be your GM?

If he resigned, I'm not sure he would get another GM job. Maybe in a lesser role.
You aren't related to TraderJerry are you? LOL
 If I was, I would never admit it. Pretty sure he was adopted.

He isn't the GM he is the POBO. He has too big an ego to take a demotion. He has probably made at least $25M over the past Decade. I imagine he would just retire.
Yes, I realize he's the POBO, but he's still pulling all the strings. Hollander is just a figure head in my opinion.

As for Dipoto retiring, I would be surprised. As you said, his ego is too inflated. I have no doubt he's convinced he can build a WS champion, despite evidence to the contrary.

Servais and Hollander both sit down to pee. Wilson doesn't. Could be a mutiny.

Do top baseball executives want to join the Seattle franchise
They've done it in the past, as well as sign significant FA contracts. Everyone was happy about getting rid of the Japanese ownership but wasn't that the franchises most legitimate period?
Who were the top baseball execs that we got in the past?
Pat Gillick?

Gillick was decent but he had the same problem Jerry does - refuses to trade prospects or put together a big contract for a FA.
He traded several for Castillo, Winker Saurez, and sent several more out at the trade deadline this year.

I really wish folks would be cognitive enough to make statements that are more consistent with objective reality, vs what is pushed out here.

The point was top baseball executives, Gillick is in the HOF

Gillick may not have traded prospects, he traded ken Griffey Jr. Terms of FAs, there was Olerurd, Sasaki, Sele, Boone, Nelson

I don't see that as being Dipoto's problem.

From trading Freddy Peralta (13.9 career WAR) for Adam Lind, to trading Pablo Lopez (16.5 career WAR) for David Phelps, to trading Chris Taylor (17.5 career WAR) for Zach Lee, he hasn't shied away from trading them.

The problem is he has gotten very poor returns compared to what he's sent away.

Arroyo and Marte still have a good chance of making them regret the Castillo trade also imo. Especially once they've paid Castillo $150M and never win a playoff series, and could have signed a free agent starting pitcher without giving up the prospects.

Since his acquisition, Castillo has been worth about 8 WAR by the time this season will be over at a cost of $42M. That's a cost of $5.25M per WAR, which isn't bad until you factor in that it also cost Arroyo and Marte.

lol did you get hit in the head a lot as a child? Its obvious what I meant - if it was over your head just say - hey can you help me out with this and i'll gladly explain more. We call him Trader Jerry for a reason - yes he trades people - but he doesn't trade his good prospects. Yes he made the 1 trade for Castillo - that is the only notable trade of prospects to date. The rest were just throw-ins mostly and maybe a name here/there but its not like he routinely ships out prospects for arms/bats every year at the deadline or offseason. This year we were all pleading with him to get a good bat or two but he didn't do it and the prospects he sent out were all players people won't miss.
