Re: Playoffs?
I am watching Houston losing to the A's right now and all the announcers are talking about is who they are going to have start their games in the playoffs. They are totally taking it for granted that they are in and the M's are no threat.
Re: Playoffs?
And how is that different than how we are talking about them?Captain 97 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 12:37 amI am watching Houston losing to the A's right now and all the announcers are talking about is who they are going to have start their games in the playoffs. Re: Playoffs?
Well we are saying it will take a miracle to catch them so that seems like a rather significant difference.Bil522 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 12:43 amAnd how is that different than how we are talking about them?Captain 97 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 12:37 amI am watching Houston losing to the A's right now and all the announcers are talking about is who they are going to have start their games in the playoffs. I must of missed the thread where we were discussing who we want to start the first game in the playoffs...Bil522 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 12:43 amAnd how is that different than how we are talking about them?Captain 97 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 12:37 amI am watching Houston losing to the A's right now and all the announcers are talking about is who they are going to have start their games in the playoffs. You need to scroll back a few months. I remember a time when we lead them by ten games and there was talk in here about how they were going to trade us one of their hitters!Captain 97 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 2:15 amI must of missed the thread where we were discussing who we want to start the first game in the playoffs...Bil522 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 12:43 amAnd how is that different than how we are talking about them?Captain 97 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 12:37 amI am watching Houston losing to the A's right now and all the announcers are talking about is who they are going to have start their games in the playoffs. Re: Playoffs?
That's how the Bears won their opener this past Sunday and when I saw the score I thought about Dennis Green too.Michael K. wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 4:22 pmI don't think a sports fan in America can hear that word and not think of Jim Sr.'s rant! That was an all time great rant. That and the guy in Arizona after the Bears scored like three TDs on defense and Special teams and his team blew a Monday Night game. "You want to crown them, then crown them. But we had them on the hook and we let them off!" Damn, I can picture that guy, just can't remember his name!

Re: Playoffs?
Its looking like that 3rd Wildcard is pretty much the only shot. 12 games left. M's are 8-4 in their last 12. Do that again and they will finish with 85 wins.
The twins have 7 games coming up against Cleveland and Boston. If they go 2-5 in those games and the M's can go 4-2 against NY and Texas it will be all tied up. At the very least I think they need to pick up a game and a half over these next two series to feel like they have a legitimate shot. I'd feel a lot better about their chances if they had the tie breaker but they are going to have to finish a game ahead to make the playoffs.

Re: Playoffs?
Here is a possible scenario...
Seattle
2-1 Vs NY
2-1 Vs Tex
2-1 Vs Hou
2-1 Vs Oak
Final Record 85-77
Minnesota
1-3 Vs. Cle
1-2 Vs. Bos
2-1 Vs. Mia
1-2 Vs Bal
Final Record 84-76
Detroit
1-2 Vs KC
1-2 Vs Bal
2-1 Vs TB
3-0 Vs Chi
Final Record 84-76
Can't afford to lose any more series and if they could get a sweep mixed in would really help a ton.
