Still odd, at least to me, I that we didn't want him this year.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 11:47 pmJust another guy that Pete/Hurtt/Norton couldn't get the most out of.

He had productive years every year! 9.5 sacks as a peak and over 20 in 3 years.Michael K. wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 4:27 amStill odd, at least to me, I that we didn't want him this year.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 11:47 pmJust another guy that Pete/Hurtt/Norton couldn't get the most out of.

And yet as I read it, PFF gave him a grade of 54. This is the issue I have with PFF. The team seems to feel he impacted the game but PFF doesn't recognize it
Bears head coach Matt Eberflus often refers to Pro Bowl pass rusher Montez Sweat's impact as the “Tez effect,” referencing his ability to change a game.
In a 24-17 win against the Titans on Sunday, the Bears also showed they're learning how to better play off Sweat and use his presence to exploit advantages elsewhere. Chicago’s defense generated consistent pressure while Sweat taken away by Tennessee’s blocking scheme.
Titans quarterback Will Levis was 5-of-13 for 61 yards and two interceptions when facing pressure, and the Bears pressured him on 47.4% of his dropbacks. Nose tackle Andrew Billings, defensive lineman DeMarcus Walker and pass rusher Darrell Taylor each registered five pressures.
"He's an absolute force,” Edwards told the Bernstein & Holmes Show on Tuesday. “He's someone who needs to be accounted for on every play because he can wreck the game, for sure. I think whether he’s in the slide or he’s getting two, three guys at some point just kind of chipping him as he gets to his rushes, it’s definitely something we know that they have attention on.
“Having Tez for a full offseason now, having that chemistry build and seeing what he sees, honestly as a whole defensive line unit, it only helps us now.

Where did you get that? Taylor got a 78.6 grade from PFF. Probably got a 54 for run D though.

What it all means probably is that Sweat was up against a much better O lineman throughout the game.

I don't think that's what it means, and I think this is what is missed. I will bet Tennessee never tried blocking Sweat with a single blocker. They felt the need to concentrate their blocking schemes with multiple blockers on Sweat which resulted in his teammates free to score a number of qb hits. At least that's what the bears seem to feel. Football is a team game. Taylor had a nice game statistically which gets rewarded with a favorable PFF score. But does PFF take into account the game his teammates had to help him accomplish itSibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 4:28 pmWhat it all means probably is that Sweat was up against a much better O lineman throughout the game.

And if Sweat was up against a much better Lineman shouldn't that be reflected in their PFF score? The Titans starting tackles scored a 54 and 64 respectively
