Try this on for size. Guy puts an ad for a basement apartment rental on Craigslist, Redfin, Zillow, et al. lots of relator names associated with property. My roommate and I go see it and like it. There is a key box on the door, our scammer has the code to open the box, which is how we viewed the property. We get our 1st/ last/ and security deposit ($6k) in and get a signed lease and receipts for our money and that what it is being paid for. Guy gives a new code and we open the box and guy says the keys are yours. We take possession on Aug 2. We move about a third of our stuff from storage...enough so that my roommate can live comfortably for 2 weeks because I am on my way to California to visit my elderly parents that I have not seen since Christmas.I leave on the morning of the 3rd to drive down.Pharmabro wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 4:47 amI hate greasy scum ball scammers.D-train wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 4:05 amI spent over $700 so far to watch about 20 Hawk and Husky games. Spectrum has the Big 10 so if I don't get a partial refund I paid $314 to watch one non conference game. Just kill me.maoling wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 2:25 am
Yup, and the fact you can't record them -- and they make you be an Amazon Prime Bitch just to watch the game. We've always had Amazon Prime, but they did the same shit with ROOT and Peacock. It's bullshit and I hate getting hosed like that to watch games in your own house.
Oh and I just got scammed $6k by a greasy moving company. Estimate was $5300 and the final bill was $11300. Said we had more stuff than we said we did. The make this proclamation when it is already loaded on the truck and I have already paid $3k down so nothing we can do.
On my way down I start feeling really tired but keep going. I get off at the wrong exit to get gas and end up hitting a pothole doing 50mph and it shreds my passenger front tire. I have a donut but the car is tilted in such a way i can not get under the car to get it off. My phone is dead, so I sit in the middle of nowhere(40miles north of Sacramento) and stay there overnight. It is about 80 at 3am. When the sun comes up it goes up to 105+ and still no one stops. Finally about noon, a guy stops and helps me get the donut on I go about 10 miles and there is a Pep Boys open so I get the tire replaced and drive 3more hrs to get to my folks. AS I enter the house I say hi and immediately go to sleep I wake up 3hrs later just burning up. I end up going to the hospital where I am diagnosed with my MRSA being active again so I stay 3 weeks in the hospital getting a treatment of IV antibiotics.
Back with my roommate in Seattle, about the time I blow out my tire, 2 guys bust into the new place and say they are property management, that we are squatting on private property, and that my roommate has to leave immediately. My roommate says let me show you the paperwork and they physically pick him up and throw him out with the clothes on his back. He goes to a store and calls the Seattle Police but they never come. Finally my roommate has to go to his ex girlfriends place. He gets ahold of me in the hospital and I call our landlord...he says those guys are frauds and he will have his lawyer call SPD and start the case. He said he will take care of everything just give him a call the next day. Next day, I call and the line is disconnected. My roommate goes back and finds that all of our stuff is gone and the place is still being shown to other people. That $6k represented all the extra cash we had to get a place. So, we are now sleeping in my car, with a lot less stuff, and trying to scrape together rent and security deposit for a new place.

Jesus Christ man that is horrible. Sorry to hear that. And I thought I had back luck this year. Jesus Christ, Bill. I am sickened to read this. I'm so sorry. Do you think sending this to the local news stations might do some good?
