I just find it funny, a guy not hitting home runs out of selfishness.

He knew he'd sacrifice the hit total by chasing the power.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 6:25 amI just find it funny, a guy not wanting to hit home runs out of selfishness.
So, he didn't.
You're not wrong, he probably did think that's what was best. HE was wrong.
Re: Thread Thief GT 9/15
Get a FUCKING clue. Hit FUCKING ball in outfield instead slap hitting it into a DP. when you have guys in scoring position. DONN are you that thick headed????????Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 6:25 amI just find it funny, a guy not hitting home runs out of selfishness.

Not arguing what you feel he should have done, that's fine with me. I said I found it funny the motivation being selfishness. Ichiro has to have been the only player in the history of the game that viewed a home run with men on base as detrimental to their self-interest. He certainly was an interesting ball playerTLO Idaho wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 6:34 amGet a FUCKING clue. One time he bunted with guys on 1st and 2nd with two outs. That tells you all you need to know...bpj wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 5:57 amUnfortunately, he was wrong.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 5:43 amWouldn't a home run been a stat?
Actually i feel the opposite, I think he felt the best way he could contribute to the team was to get on base, that's the way he went about it
Especially when he would "try to get on base" when there was a runner on first base and the defender would just throw the guy out at second base.
Somebody asked about comparing Ichiro's double plays to Edgar's. I bet Ichiro grounded into substantially more fielders choice outs than Edgar did. Maybe by multiples.
Or when there was a runner in scoring position, and he would still try to slap his way onto first base and the run wouldn't score anyways.
All Ichiro ever cared about were his Hit totals imo.
