Who do you guys think was better Turkey Stearnes or Mule Stuttles?
What, did the Negro league have a 50 game season? They should have more plate appearances given how many years they played.
Don't call it the Negro League you racist! I am going to report to the NAAAAACP!

Opposing pitchers should just intentionally walk him at least twice a game.

I'm going with the Turkey. It's getting closer to Thanksgiving and I ain't eatin' no Mule.
Wish we could ask them both. They played together in 1933-34-35 on the Chicago American Giants. Mule died in 1966; Turkey in '79.
As SH says, they played far less games which is unfortunate. In those 3 years combined, each played about 125 games total, so approx. 42 games/year.
Mule hit over .400 three times.
A bit of fascinating history, to say the least.

Believe they played in more games but those are the ones they have records for
Thorn estimated 72% of Negro Leagues records from 1920 to 1948 are included and said additional research might lead to future modifications. Thorn said a four-homer game by Gibson in 1938 and a home run by Mays in August 1948 could not be included because complete game accounts have not been found.

"Without a box score, we can't really balance the statistics," Johnson said. "Those games are kind of in limbo at the moment."

Stan Musial had 8 full seasons over 1.000 ops. Finished his 22 year career at .976. He, too, lost a prime year to military service.

Guess it's the first time they have added leagues
A special committee on baseball records decided in 1969 to recognize six major leagues dating to 1876: the National (which launched in 1876), the American (1901), the American Association (1882-1891), Union Association (1884), Players' League (1890) and Federal League (1914-1915). It excluded the National Association (1871-75), citing an "erratic schedule and procedures."

Wish "Negros" or blacks had been allowed to play in MLB 20 years earlier. Branch Rickey was certainly a bold visionary to insist upon breaking the color barrier and bringing Jackie Robinson aboard. Tough times but it worked and made positive human strides for inclusion and acceptance.
