1/4 way into the season…Draft needs

Post by Codebrown » Wed Oct 02, 2024 10:17 pm

Compared to this past draft, I thought we needed much more help on defense and concerned with OL but now I’m not so sure. The team has surprised me this far this season minus the injuries.

Top five areas of need:

1. RT: concerned on the future
2. Linebacker: we could use another for interior depth.
3. Guard/Center: not convinced we have what is needed
4. QB for the future: I like Geno in this offense but back up ahh no
5. WR: replacement for Lockett

It sure we can just assume we don’t have our backup QB figured out. Howell is probably just fine in that role, and he is still young. But QB of the future might be the issue.

I'd move my 1st three rounds for the next 2 years for the chance to get:

Jalen Milroe

Yeah, with the current hype and who gets the number one pick, who knows. But are we still not giving Geno his due? 33 really isn't that old in QB years. Is it necessary to be concerned with replacing him?

I watched the 1st 1/2 of the Bama/Georgia game. Holy, geeze. That dude is a more accurate passer than Lamar Jackson. He is is 10 pounds heavier. And he has 4.3 speed to match Lamar's. They are both 6'2", so, not the limits that we had with Wilson' 5'10".

I just looked it up. Before the draft you can only trade that year and the next 2 years picks. Once the draft starts you open up another year of picks to trade so:

In the 2025 draft before it starts you can trade 25, 26, and 2027 draft picks. After it starts, 2028 pick are in play.

So would you do this? Pick 1/1 value is 3K

First round in 25,26,27: Let's say expected record lands us around Pick # 25 in each round so:
1st Rd. 3X 1369 = 4107
2nd Rd 2X pick #57 = 951 (X2) 1902 points
3rd. rounders 2X pick # 89 = 2X (725) =1450

Total would be 7459 would that get it done?

Milroe should be better than Geno, but how much better? It's incremental improvement we are talking about. You are going to mortgage the future to get a certain amount better at QB as opposed to using those picks to put a team around Geno.
