No ROOT Sports this year
Re: No ROOT Sports this year
I think there's a decent chance the Mariners move their broadcasts to MLB as soon as next year, possibly shutting down Root Sports altogether. With Comcast essentially pushing fans off of cable, most are probably signing up at Fubo. But Fubo is likely to shut down as their business model seems to be cratering.
Re: No ROOT Sports this year
Fubo isn't even in real HD.
Give me a Root option through Amazon, YouTube, Apple or some other service that actually cares about quality.
The best current option, if you care at all about picture quality, is DirecTV. Really, the only knock I had against DirecTV was they don't have Pac12 network. And.. That's no longer an issue... Pricey, I guess too.

I pay $120/month for internet and cable including ROOT....$50 for internet and $70. Honestly, it is easy and I don't have to think about it. Yes, it is $1440 a year, but I get tons of enjoyment from watching my sports and I get tons of ideas from college basketball to bring to my coaching.

Where are you getting cable including Root for $70. We don't have Comcast where I am at but the Astound Broadband package that includes Root is $120 per month.Bil522 wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2024 12:18 amI pay $120/month for internet and cable including ROOT....$50 for internet and $70. Bumping the thread
Interesting developments with Diamond/Bally Sports now that the season is over.

The station is likely to haemorrhage money without content and that's why GL_Storm's view isn't out of the realms of possibility. They will definitely be planning something. I'll place my money on a sale, but I'm not sure there are many companies buying tv stations at the moment.

GL_Storm's post earlier in this thread is particularly worth taking note.Diamond Sports Group said in court today that it plans to broadcast just one MLB club next year, the Braves, per reporting from Evan Drellich of The Athletic. The company, which owns the Bally Sports Networks, also had deals with the Reds, Tigers, Royals, Angels, Marlins, Cardinals, Rays but plans on walking away from those.
The Mariners now have free reign to do whatever they want - the Krakken went their own way in April and the Trailblazers announced their departure in August. Our season was underway so the impact doesn't really kick in until now - there is little content on Root Sports that justifies a subscription until Spring. Who's going to subscribe to watch "World Jai Alai League" at 5pm this Saturday? The Utah Jazz games I think are still available but even so its not going to put many eyes on their channel.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 5:11 pmI think there's a decent chance the Mariners move their broadcasts to MLB as soon as next year, possibly shutting down Root Sports altogether. I get every game with the MLB package but you are in the Root coverage area so all games will be blacked out.maoling wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 2:58 amThanks again Comcast -- and the cable and streaming powers that exist only to steal from me and others like me.
How do you guys watch the M's in your neighborhood? I'm thinking of getting the MLB package, it's like 10X's cheaper than what Comcast wants to Prison Bubba me for this year.

Re: No ROOT Sports this year
Weird schedule.
Now there are 4 games on Saturday and the American League play games 1 & 2 on Saturday & Monday with a random no-travel day off on Sunday in between.
