JP has a career OPS+ 101. He will be 30 in January. Was horrid this season. Zero chance he gets close to 2023.

Nothing exciting in your plan so it is a good plan in terms of being predictive but not so much in terms of WS aspirations.
Zero chance? 30 isn't a drop off age for a player of JPs stature. I'm not with JP either, but he could come to about 85 percent of '23. I still hope next year is his last with the M's. We have too much SS talent grooming and coming up the pike.

It's why I also am not doing anything but a stop gap at 3b. We have guys coming for the hot corner. Keep that spot open.

And you can have your Brandon Lowe or Brendon D, I'm giving 2b to Ryan Bliss.

Arenado would be a good guy to have in the club house.

If you can make the money work so you're not paying out your ass... fine. But I'm not sure I see that happening.

Arenado was bottom 20% in ALL hard contact metrics. It's far and away his worst season metric wise and that's saying something because he hasn't been elite w. hard hit rate since 2018.

That's not a good sign for an aging player making a lot of money.

I also don't see adding both Donovan and Lowe. Donovan isn't a real 3B.

This is how I look at it.

If Rooker was on our team, he'd be untouchable. So I don't see a way to get him. Same with Vlad, the Jays were in-on Ohtani and matched the bid. Do they intend to go after Soto to prove to Vlad to sign an extension?

I added my go get Nolan scenario.

But I had a few more such as trading Luis for Matt Olson 1:1 swap.
Atlanta could lose:
Max Fried in FA
Charlie Morton is 40 so FA/retire

I mean Olson looks to have an every other year thing going on with big years
In even years 117, 103, 120, 118 OPS+
In odd years 166, 139, 153, 164 OPS+

You could then pivot to adding Snell. That would help in 2 ways Snell is a lefty and has a 128 ERA+ vs Castillo's 120.And you could still add 2/3 of Lowe, Nolan A., or B. Donavan.

I am just not optimistic that "guys that move the needle" well be able to be had.

We'll see.

That statement just doesn't work.

The Mariners are not the A's.

Their situations are not even remotely similar.

in 270 innings over there he has a defensive runs scored/year of +31. Or, did you mean the offensive profile being more up the middle type vs a corner "power-bat"?

There have been a few!

Marcus reminded me of JP.

Marcus S. 1st 8 years +1 OPS+: 80, 93, 98, 99, 97, 95, 139, 89, 131

JP's 1st 8 years 77, 90, 86, 91, 102, 100, 133, 86,

Yes.

He's like a slightly better Rojas w. the bat.
