Re: OT: Great performances
I remember hearing this song back in the early 90's on Whitman College's radio station. On occasion (every several years), it just appears in my head and I have to watch/listen to it again.
Re: OT: Great performances
I had tickets to see JD Souther perform this week, but he passed away 4 weeks ago. Souther wrote or co-wrote top of the charts songs for the Eagles and for Linda Ronstadt. He apparently was asked to be part of the Eagles when they were formed, but declined, saying that the 4 guys were perfect as they were, plus he preferred to stay home.
Here he is from 1973 (!) performing the song about the Doolin-Dalton outlaw gang from the Oklahoma Territory in the 1890s. (Damn violent immigrant gang members ...) This was the first song on the second album by the Eagles. Written by JD Souther, Glen Frey, Don Henley, and Jackson Browne.
RIP JD Souther 1945-2024.

Fleetwood Mac, "Blue Letter," from 1975. Lindsey Buckingham lead vocals and great guitar solo. Mick Fleetwood with some solid rock drumming.

Okay, last one in the Aerosmith series... or is it? Yeah, Dream On overshadowed this one, and rightfully so, few land in that stratosphere.. and on a debut album. Damn. Bar set high early. But, my oh my, this one this a scorcher. From their live performance in Houston Texas circa 1977, Aerosmith blowin' your doors off with MAMA KIN. If you know, you know; if you don't, you may be a closet 9ers fan. Don't be a 9ers fan.

They have been around that long, interesting you are familiar with them. I just ran across that on YouTube. I took a look fully prepared to hate it but you can't, It really is pretty remarkable, that wacky blend

Their version of When the Levy Breaks is great.
Re: OT: Great performances
That time Jimmy Page collaborated with the Black Crowes for an incredible music experience. They did a tour and a lot of appearances - it was pretty epic. This is from right here in LA at the amazing Greek Theater, and this time Chis Robinson had harmonica jam duties. Black Crowes drummer really channeling his inner John Bonham - remarkable performance.
